do i need to go purchase another copy of the game to have 2 online connections from 1 IP

acording to raven yes, 1 copy = 1 machine

but if u want to run a dedicated server on the 2nd computer and join it on ur first then that is ok, didicated servers dont need cd keys.

This worked for me:
I just set my network so that all machines connect to the internet through the main computer, if you have XP you can do this with the network setup wizard.   I havent had any probs with any games my friends and I have played together online... Maybe this helps.. maybe not :D

yes this method above works but if u are using same copy for all clients its considered piracy. i used to play with my bro on our home network and i decided to email raven to ask if this was legal, considering we both went in on the game to purchase it and on rtcw we always did it. but this is the email i got from raven.

" If your both on the same IP then at the moment you are actually able to play on the same ip address at the same time.  Technically this is concidered pirating the software, but you dont have to worry about the key being banned for doing it."

i was worried about my key getting banned but from the sounds of it theyd have the fbi on my door before that happened. my bro has since moved out so i dont have to worry bout this issue. also sounds like raven is working on a fix so you cant so this anymore.

Start Menu, Run, winipcfg

However, if you're behind a router, that will only give your internal IP address.

you could also go to https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 they can test your ports and tell you if you`re stealth or not.. it`s useful to see if you can run a server too :s23:  :s21:

Punkbuster problem...My wife and I want to play on the same server as well..however after successfully doing the above mentioned steps I thought I was all set...UNTIL punkbuster kicked BOTH of us...Here is the message I got..."You have been kicked for 2 minutes via Punkbuster, duplicate cd key"
Any smart guys out there who can figure this out??

Since it not possible to access the game from two computers on the same IP with the

product(key), Here is a question:

Would it be possible to purchase an additional cd-key from Raven without having to

buy a second retail copy of the game which is obviously priced considering

manufacturing, distribution, packaging, etc ... it is of no use to have two

physical copies of the game itself. I know that other companies have also put on

the market "online only" copies of their software at a more reasonable price range

or granted a second license per household at a reduced price.

I think it would make sense to encourage people who buy the game and support it

with such a initiative instead of having them pay for those who pirate the

software.

I would appreciate a word from Raven on this wheter itcomes as a reply or an email.
