after updating my motherboard BIOS i am now ablt to put my SB live into my pc instead of using my on board audio and SB live rocks better audio and 10 times better voice chat capability

for them plp with probs, "xp/sb" this may  sound dumb but make sure u got the XP driver off the site. and not just 1  off the driver disk.. i have a sb Gamer X and a Aug platnum and they both work great with XP

The Soundblaster Audigy is a pretty good soundcard, has worked well with WinXP pro for me.

I have an EPOX motherboard bloody good mother board but i had to update the BIOS b4 i could use my SB always check the motherboard manufacturer for updated BIOS's bout once every month to ensure any bug probs like i have had and correct operation of yer PC with most new boards wont need updating but older ATHLON DURON boards may well need updating to bring upto speed and run all the latest hardware

It's worth pointing out in a thread like this that most recent issues with Creative cards are related to the Via 686B southbridge used on many, many mainboards.  There are patches available, but you have to look for chipset fixes, NOT sound card updates.

I believe the newer 4-in-1s fix some of the PCI latency problems that afflicted SB Live! and Audigy users, but I'm not sure - I used a third-party patch that did the trick.  Anyone know where to grab the latest (and preferably the "official") fixes?

i had some problems with win98 but after some time it also worked and since then no more probs

to get the updates for mo board which is usually a prob with PCI soundblaster going into a pc with on board audio try the website of the mother board manufacturer as they will have all the bios updates and bug fixes
