well, i did some researching bout my systems settings, and found that my aperture size is only 64mb, where i have a 128mb graphics card, and 512mb ram. so, i went to change it in BIOS but theres no settings for it(my BIOS only AGP option is VGA Mode:pci/agp or agp/pci..)Sony at this time has no BIOS updates, so i dont know how to change this setting..
My question to anyone Knowledgable to this topic is this making a huge difference? Is there an alternate way ANYONE knows to changing this setting??

used the apg memory check and it came to around 64mb...also, after a lil web surfing i found this link, which explains my problem with a solution, but for a different model of Sony Vaio then mine, so dont know to use it or not, so if anyone knows please help, or if anyone knows of a different program for doing this PLEASE tell me!!

heres the link to what i found:

Dub:

I can set mine anywhere from 64 to 512 and I notice no change in performance. Not the source of your FPS issue.... :s11:

run 3dmark, then compare your results to other people who have the same system, then you know if your GF4 is working properly

You shouldn't notice any difference when changing your aperature. The reason why is that most games and OS's now control this feature for you, so it doesn't really matter what it's set to. You shouldn't notice any difference.

Dub,

Make sure you're looking in the right section, I believe in most BIOS's it's under Advanced, Chip Configuration. I can't imagine your Motherboard doesn't have it.. What's the make and model of it?

Also, try my Vsync disable issue, see my post on this page somewhere. Maybe that will help you out.

Cheers

heres my model comp:

http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/pc/pcvrx550rx560rx570/

(its the 570 model, and has a geforce 4 ti 4600 and sb live! 5.1 soundcard, only differences.)

its only a couple months old, and for some reason im seeing nothing on aperture size....no advanced chip options either...unless its just hidden somewhere....anyways, im trying to get some answers from sony on how to change this, cus i really think this is my main problem

Yeah I'd definitely get in touch with Sony about this. :s22:

Btw, tip. Sony makes great consoles, nice tv's and such. Don't get any computer equipment from them though. They are NOT a very good computer parts manufacturer, their cd-roms suck and apparently their motherboards aren't much better.

Stick with brands such as Asus or Abit for your motherboards.

Check www.tomshardware.com and www.anandtech.com for good reviews on what hardware is good and what isn't (tomshardware is my personal favorite).
Btw, both those sites also have very good forums where major techno geeks browse all day (like moi :s10:) and if you ask there about your aperture size, you're bound to get someone who knows.

www.hardwareanalysis.com is also good in that aspect.

Hope any of this helps you out pal.
