Okay I noticed that some people complain of bad fps when it may not have even been a problem, just because the fps drops to 30 sometimes does not make you a member of my exclusive club. (yes I know everyone wants to be cool and join.) Heres an idea. Lets compare some benchmarks of systems outside of SOF2 with the fps we get in the game. Who knows, maybe we could get this as a sticky if it helps figure some stuff out. First order of business: It's obvious that I get bad fps, The best and easiest place for me to show this is through most of the prague level, especially from the very begining upto and through the shipping container area. We need to find an easy and informative benchmark program that shows that yes our machine does run well and that its not a hardware issue. Any suggestions? If we can show that we get the same in depth benchmarks as people like dysfunctional and raven yet bad fps then it should prove once and for all its not us or our machines. I'm thinking we could try 3DMARK2001 Second Edition (build 330)Then we could post our results and do some comparisons. *EDIT* Ramrod has had it up to here with people being insulting and vulgar. Please refrain from such behavior in this and other posts. Yes we are all mad, but being white trash about it doesn't make it get fixed any faster. I know I tried it for quite a while and it almost got me banned. |

vulpine - 1024x768 - 99.3FPS 3dmark - 1024x768 - 9436 vulpine - 1280x1024 - 85FPS It probably doesn't matter though: no AI in benchmarking! my rig doesn't have the highest scores ever, but it cooks these benchmarks and other games nicely- |

Kesh, gentlemanly suggestion. I do not have the open gl thingie... but I will look for it. here is madonion: 10672 I do not get outstanding frames in SOF2 but the game is smooth and runs 25fps to 60fps in the Prague area. pent4 2gig @2.2 leadtek 4600 315/715 Abit th72raid 2ibm 60gig hds in raid 0 I ran the complete test 1024 x 768 32bit color At Madonion you have people posting scores with high end AMD rigs well over 11,000. My score would be considered only fair. |

yeah right, fair is 8000- anything over 10000 is excellent! SoF2 is open gl, that's what vulpine benchmarks is open gl, it's pretty cool to watch too, you'll like it! |

| Quote (dysfunctional @ July 03 2002, 6:52 pm) | | I am serious about the score.... Some people at Madonion make a hobby out of tweaking/cooling their rigs for scores. The latest AMD rigs score over 11,000. I can push my rig up to 2.4gig but I still peak at 10,800. In the summer the computer room gets too hot!!! |
yeah but the difference between 10000 and 11000 is not that much of a diff- by today's standards a decent (good) score is starting at 9000- a score of 10000 is very, very good- a score of 11000 is awesome! the few hundred extra points isn't that much when were talking about 10500 to 11000- you know that! let's agree on that at least, you rig is screamin! |
