WDM Installation. That package is the WDM drivers only anyway, not sure why it won't install right...... though Creative are supposed to be releasing their own new drivers for the live/audigy this month/next month.
Still awaiting that package to be uploaded I was on about.

However due to the previous different codebases we have to create 2 different upgrade streams, one for Live! & one for Audigy. Once installed they will both then be 100% MDP compliant. We took the decision a little while ago to release the Live! update first. This work is now 99% complete & the download (only 50MB if you want all components, 25MB for the core components) will be available in the next week or so on our site. The work has already begun on the Audigy download & barring any major issues this should be ready around late August time.

I have a Compaq Presario model 7006 US. I'm running Windows 98 SE and have the Retail SoundBlaster Live! installed.

I cannot get surround sound to work in SOF-2.  I went to the Compaq site but only found old drivers for a pre-installed card for some different models.

Couldn't find anything on the Creative site that looked applicable. The driver I'm using now is ver. 4.05.1017.

Do you know how I can get surround to work?

Good, mabey they will make some functional drivers this time. I have a 5.1 X-Gamer, and the retail drivers cause a system lock-up everytime you shut down under WinME. To fix it, I have to disable the SB16 driver under device manager, then run "ctsyn.ini" and change Enable SB16 to "false".

Anyhow, it's a ####ing pain in the ass and I hate Creative for it. If there were another brand of soundcards I thought would be better, I'd buy it.
