I suppose this has probably already been brought up in the past, but something I noticed while working on trying to skin my first model is that we really need a paint program which combines 3D projection (with support or available plug-ins for various popular 3D formats) with painting tools like PSP, allowing you to paint directly onto your 3D model, with the ability to then "unwrap" (ala Ultimate Unwrap) the image from the model, to be saved in the format of your choice. :s26:

Now that I've taken the time to write that, I suppose someone's going to tell me that such an application already exists, but costs big bucks, right? :s27:

Metacreations Painter 3D does this. There are several more (I think Corel has one too).

Thanks!

Yes, Corel does have one...  Painter!  (They bought it from MetaCreations, and they're marketing it under the brand name "procreate.")  I'm downloading the trial version right now; hope it does what I'd like it to do.

Okay, here's my newest issue:

Painter 7 (Corel/procreate) doesn't seem able to import 3D models, as near as I can tell, and I've been unable to find Painter 3D anywhere. :(

So, does anyone know of any way to import .ms3d or .md3 models into Painter 7?  Or does anyone have or know of someone who has a legal copy of Painter 3D they'd be willing to sell?

Thanks.
