Hello guys,

I just can't understand how much gamers who have almost the same systems like I do and get about 120 fps on Single Player !!   :s2:

Howcome my framerate never.....I mean NEVER....goes up more than 60 fps.  And I usually get 60 fps when looking directly into a wall !  Not ven in Multiplayer !! :s4:

I tried changing texture quality, resolution and almost every setting at low quality and still nothing more than 60 fps, both on SP and MP.

I have the latest drivers for my hardware except for my motherboard because I don't know how to install motherboard BIOS, does anyone know how ??  Anyway I dont think BIOS improves performance......does it ??  ???

Anyway, if someone has a solution to my framerate problem, kindly post me back because I really need a good framerate.
Someone told me change your "maxFPS" to about 100 but it still didn't make any difference.

Can someone kindly help me ?

Thanks loads for your time and trouble !!   ;)

it appears you might not have entered the right console command for maxfps- it is: com_maxfps x
x being the number you want to use such as 100 or 200-
you'll find that 60 is probably more stable though since your monitor refresh rate is probably 60Hz :s25:

Do you have vsync on?  You could be limited to your monitor's refresh rate.

Sounds like you don't have a refresh rate fix utility for XP and you have VSYNC on in your display properties. This will limit you to 60HZ (flicker city) and 60 FPS.

most people dont understand what VSYNC is and have NO IDEA what a refresh rate is...they think its how fast you consume a soft drink..
these subjects should be given their own sticky threads..especially considering the delicate nature of the FPS isssue this could prove usefull to newbies

Hey Dynagod,

I hope you are not referring to me as being a newbie because I've been searching around this forum since SOF2's release.  I know what Vsync and refreshrate are ! Anyway I don't soppose you meant any harm  ???

Hey guys, its true that turning Vsync off improves perfomance but I get that horrible tearing effect. And im sure i got the console command "com_maxFPS "100" right.

When I said I get about 60 frames, I meant when looking at a wall.......in firefights I get about 35 frames.

I will take into consideration the comment of "x90" since it is true that it could be graphics card is not so great compared to SOF2's graphics.

Anyway, if you guys have any more ideas, just post me back !

Thanks guys  ;)

Sounds like you don't have a refresh rate fix utility for XP and you have VSYNC on in your display properties. This will limit you to 60HZ (flicker city) and 60 FPS.

Actualy disabling Vsync won't affect refresh rate, you'll still have the eyestrain because of it.
Anyway, regarding Vsync & the refresh rate. The in-game vsync setting is as follows (Options -> Graphics Settings -> Advanced Options);

"Vertical Sync. With this option you can enable/disable Vsync in the Game. Vsync effectively limits the frame rate to your current refresh rate at any given resolution. Frame rate can be perceivably increased when set to Off (disabled), as frames are rendered as fast as they can be regardless of refresh rate, although you may experience image tearing &/or controller lag as a result. With this set to On (enabled) you won’t experience either image tearing nor controller lag, although frame rate will be limited to your refresh rate. As such I’d recommend enabling Vsync for best image quality & disabling it when you intend to benchmark system/game performance."

The refresh rate can be set in the config file. Open the myconfig.cfg file with Wordpad. Add the line;

r_displayRefresh "x"
With Vsync enabled your monitor refresh rate limits your maximum frame rate to whatever the Refresh rate is, e.g. With a monitor refresh rate of 60Hz, your maximum frame rate with Vsync enabled in 60. As a result you should set x here to whatever the maximum refresh rate your Monitor is capable of at the Resolution you intend to use, this may not improve your frame rate though more importantly can reduce eyestrain while playing. For most users maximum would be defined as 85 – 100 so as not to strain your monitor.

The com_maxfps "x" cvar also limits the maximum frame rate, though in the single player there's no real reason why you'd want to set this to something lower than your fresh rate, so for single player at least set this to *at least* your refresh rate - 100 is probably fine enough.
