I'm thinking of getting a new (and hopefully better) replacement to my aging mouse (the feet on it have worn down, lmfao).
My current mouse is a "Microsoft w/Intellieye" optical mouse. It's served me quite well so far but is getting old and has some problems (like not letting me turn around sometimes, lol). So I was just wondering what everyone has for a mouse and pad and if they're any good?
I wanted a razer boomslang 2000 with my everglide, but they're a little expensive and i've not heard that great things about them, plus they're wheelmice (hmm, lots of cleaning)
Anyone know any top-end optical mice, with decent DPI?

What ever optical mouse you go for, make sure it's USB, not a PS/2 mouse, because USB has a higher sampling rate.  Especially if you're using USB 2.0.

It does need to be optical, too.  See you already have that as a requirement.

I use a Belkin, USB, optical mouse with 5 buttons.  Very nice.  Doesn't make my game any better, but lets me have more control with my right hand on my mouse at all times.

It makes a good compliment to a Belkin Nostromo for the left hand.  Plenty of buttons without having to use the keyboard, at all.

The Razor series is a little overrated. I had one and the dust was an issue (constant cleaning). Now I've got the Logitech USB Wheel Mouse (optical mouse) and I love it.

Yea, my friend had one and he dropped a battery on it, lmfao (oops :s10:) now he's got a USB logitech wheelmouse (the ball mouse variety) and loves it. I was under the impression that optical mice tend to give a worse DPI than conventional mice? Or am I wrong? (i'm still gonna go with a optical mouse, much less maintenance :))

Nope. A USB optical mouse is like the Astroglide of input devices.

Thx :)
I am more than likely gonna get a logitech. How are the feet? Not that it matters much with en everglide/ratpad.

Well, some combination betwixt plastic and rubber. If something allows me to use the word "betwixt" in a sentence while describing it, well its the pinnacle of achievement for people who make things. Now if only I can find a way to use the phrase "bold and saucy wrongs" in everyday conversation...

Didn't Logitech mice have a problem scrolling through weapons?

Can't say as I've heard of that problem, Firestorm. I wonder which model.

Actually USB are a poor choice for gaming with, given USB's CPU reliance it can perform less reliably than a standard PS/2 one (A guy in the Single Player forum actually solved his performance/mouse lag problems after going from PS/2 to USB as I suggested ;)).
There's a few utilities out there (& in 2000/xp it's built-in) that allow you to adjust the sampling rate for the mouse.
