Don't buy anything with balls. Optical mice last a long time and don't need a pad. I use a cutting mat, though.

Optical mouse witha kick ass granite mouse pad (#### expensive, but it was a present....). It's the first mousepad that for sure will be there long after I'm gone....

i use meself a microsoft intellimouse explorer... perhaps there are some mice that are more precise, but i got me 2 extra buttons... that owns.. i'm a buttonfreak... i bought me a tacticalboard too... buttons...buttons...nobody beats buttons.. oOZe

MS intellie 5 button mouse. I use all buttons. For mouse pad I use J Lo's panties.

I find that I have better control with my fingers than my thumb on the mouse ball. The heavier weight of the larger ball also helps with control - less skittering around.

The speedpad is working out great - so much better than using the keyboard. It took about a week to get used to, but once I did my game improved. I use the pad for movement, and have the unshifted keys set up for common things like jump, crouch, reload (a must), prone (SP), weapon mode, use, and lean left/right. I have two shift keys set up - one for weapons 1-8, and another for weapons 9 & 0, objectives and map (again, SP).

I need to create a MP only profile and replace prone with something useful.

im left handed and all the best mice,all the dual optical and extra button mice are made ergonomically for rightys.. when i try to use them its all wrong,buttons on the wrong side,its shaped all wrong.. i dont know what to do.. not to mention all those kewl claw things and #### are right handed too..sucks!! is there any high end LEFTY mice etc manufacturers out there for gaming??

Used the Razer 1000 when it came out for Q3A...Now I use a MSFT optical mouse and a 12 x18 inch mouse pad. The Razer was sweet and I liked its useable button cfgs but the the ball and sensors jsut got way to dirty fast. Will sell mine if anyone is interested. I have a another one with under a week of use because I smashed the first one in a 1v1 on DM17. LOL
