i did everthing that it said to do to make a .pk3 file for my map, but i can not see it in sof2mp or in sof2 runner(thats what i use for my server).
It says that my file size when i open my map in radiant that it is 194KB that seems kind of small compared to the other map sizes i have seen and my map isnt that small.
I dont know if im missing something or forgeting something.
maybe somebody could walk me through it to make sure im doing everything ok [confused] thanks

Why dont you list down how you have done it then we can see what the problem is.... 194kb is mighty small.... is it a box??

ok i made my map witch has one big room with 6 little rooms(that have it so u can only teleport to them) looking out from the top sides(snipe points) there are images and a pool in it, then leading to 2 hallways to 2 big rooms with 2statues and 6 barrels and like 30 tanks all objects. then 2more hallways to a big room. All rooms are really textured out, and a secret room with a table and chairs.

I was in radiant and saved the map as smokinsmap2 to sof2/smokinsmap2. Which i made all the folders that it tells me to make in the folder of smokinsmap2(in the tutorial on how to make a pk3 on this sight)in the script i wrote
{
map "smokinsmap2"
longname " smokins map 2"
type "dm tdm elim inf ctf"
}
and renamed it to smokinsmap2.arena
and i assume my shaders where already put in sof2/base/shaders

then i right click on smokinsmap2 and add to zip and when the first window pops up i delete .??? and change it to .pk3
file.
I then copy it to my base and it is only like 83kb. Then i tried to add all the folders in winzip for my map and it put it to 164kb.
That means i still lose 30 kb somewhere. I look at all the maps in my base folder and the smallest one i see is 300kb
so i think there might be something wrong.
I test my map by going into sof2mp and typing in /devmap smokinsmap2. I notice on the screen that it says warning for no shaders on some of the objects. I made shaders for my custom textures with quick shaders, but i cant find the some of the objects to load to make shaders for them.
sorry this is long, but then u might be able to tell what is wrong. thanks for your help.

ok so i make sure i do this right.
In the tutorial on making a pk3 file it says put your compiled mp_test.bsp into the maps folder. Mine would be smokinsmap2.bsp
What i have done is when i save my map i save it too sof2/smokinsmap2
Let me know how to compile it cause i didnt see how in the tutorial.thanks
Some times i get the hard stuff, but not the easy stuff.lol

First of all, you’re map must be saved in the base\maps folder.
To compile the map for testing, I use “Q3Map2: (single) BSP –meta” the first time I compile my map. This is the quickest way to compile you’re map because it skips the “vis” and “lighting” stages.

Using “Q3Map2: (test) BSP –meta, -vis, -light -fast –filter” will give you better results, but takes a little longer.

yah i have always used the q3map2:single bsp-meta
now i tried the other one and i got
smokinsmap1.bak file
smokinsmap1(corel presentation 10 template)
smokinsmap1.bsp (this one is now 3,314kb)
smokinsmap1.srf

If u could mabye walk me through how to do the(the bsp file) add to winzip so i make sure i get it right. thanks for your quick response.

oh also i might have done the add to winzip wrong because i did it to the smokinsmap1.map(194kb) instead of the smokinsmap1.bsp(3,314kb).
when i do the test it also says couldnt find shaders for any of the objects i put in(like the statue, the only statue in sof2)i look for them in quick shader and cant find them.

i made the pk3 file by clicking on the folder smokinmap1 and right clicking---add to winzip. When the first window comes up i change the .zip to .pk3 and hit add that makes the pk3 file and the size is 753kb. The total of my folder was (3.69MB). I dont know if it is suppose to shrink like that. I also copied the pk3 to the sof2/base.
then i went to sof2runner and put my map on the server, then went into sof2mp and tried to get into my server, but it said couldnt load smokinsmap1.bsp. help please.
