the IR goggles are truly useless. it is actually easier to see thru the dark than thru the green haze that claims to be IR.
and that's only at short range... beyond 5-8 meters it's just a green sea!
what was the point of including them? oh... and i am not the only person who gets this... i have mates who all agree that the IR gogs are 'a bit poo'. and, no, i am not using them in well lit rooms/places.
does anybody know of a patch or script to make this piece of kit useful? i'm sure the boys at raven will sort it out on the patch but until then, i'm bumping into walls [also, sometimes he gets caught on..well...nothing! he just gets stuck in place until i punch 'wsad' madly and he breaks free... what the #### is that?]. h  e l l ? that's a swear word?
btw, cracking game!
cheers

are you talking about IR or NV. IR is good indoors cuz you can see through walls and ok in jungle rmgs cuz people can't hide in brush.

Yep!, you mean NVG's. they're crap!. so's the one on the OICW( pronounced:'oink', cause its a pig!;). the fade out is awful!. you're better off tweaking the Socom up to power and using it with the tactical light!... :s23:

Yea, I was pissed about the NVGs as well.  Pretty useless.  I find the IRs are better, but only at glancing through walls, and even that, it doesn't always work.

the gogs i mean i believe are night vision but i think that means they are infra red. the thermal vision gogs are quite good as you can see thru walls, etc but again the range is pitiful.
why bother with such useless tools? did the guys at raven think.... hey, these will be too unbalancing to use at any range over 8 meters so let's make them so pitiful that noone will actually use them!!!

i just don't get it!

but isn't there a patch or script to make them more realistic [ie, useful]? i'm sure someone mentioned one available somewhere.
isn't there someone out there with the intelligence to do this?
isn't there someone, somewhere who can shrink into a tiny size and get into the computer and change the settings?
isn't there something that make it work properly?

well...isn't there?
and if not...
why not?

Yep NVG's are IR but its so confusing, i though TI's were as well(infra red users that is). i've got a set of German Army (Gen1/2 i think) NVBinoculars(8x i think, again), but they are not passive and i hav'nt got an iluminator. so i dont know what real world fade out is like. it depends on the power or generation i spose?,

I can tweak weapons till you can cut a man in half at 1000metres with a Socom that fires 100RPS, but i hav'nt tryed(tried?.#### i cant spell this early!!;) the NVG's or TI's yet....

the worst thing is the NPC's can see you!!...

what does NCP stand for?, I thought it was Non Combat Personell, but that was before...

NV goggles aren't infrared, they are light amplification devices, that's why you don't use them in lit areas.  Raven kind of messed up in that lights don't blind you the way they really should using those things.  Range, well, for the headset goggles, it's a little short, but not too bad.  NVScopes, range is SERIOUSLY screwed up, they should be able to spot targets at 800m.

The Thermals, odd little device, no use for it myself in MP, didn't touch them in SP.
