if its a dodgy CD, then no matter how many times you install it, the problem will remain, and the fact that it happens on any PC you install it on no matter what hardware supports this theory

if this is the case, the only solution is for one of us with normal copies to send you the necessary files, or to borrow a friend's CD

Okey doke, so we've pretty much determined that the cause of the trouble (which does look kinda cool --definitely brings back memories of the days when I wore bellbottoms and went by the nick "Starchild" heh heh) is a corrupted file by the name of "average_sleeves.gla" in the folder /Skeletons, inside of "therest.pk3" file. So, are any of these sorts of files available for downloading? Obviously not the whole game, of course, but components for situatons like this? For example, is there a demo with this file in it that I could use to extract from? Winzip & Winrar open the file just fine, so fixing it would be a snap. At first, when I saw the majority of the files in the archive, I figured it would be no sweat to email, since they were so small. Then I finally spotted average_sleeves. Ick. 18 megs, 10 zipped. If all else fails, yeah, I can hitch a ride over to "duh Big City" (I live in the sticks) to swap it out for a new one, but I'd settle for just downloading the needed component if possible.

Oh yeah, I still can't find anything describing how to fix my sig. I see enough people adding a nifty little pic via hyperlink, so I gave it a try, but it's not working. I even looked at the html of the page and tried to follow the format. Nopers, again. Can anyone tell me how to do it right, or is this something you can only do after XX number of posts? Thanks.

It -might- be in the single player demo assets...but you'll still have a problem in multiplayer:
Since you will have "updated" the pk3 file with the new file, it will no longer be "pure", so you might have trouble playing on some online servers.

The reason your sig isn't working is cause you're using HTML instead of UBB.

So use brackets instead of arrows [ img ] [ /img ]  ( I added a space between the brackets and "img" "/img" so it will show in this post).

I'll give it a shot, and if it ends up being a pain I'll do the return. At least I'd be able to play, and might be ok on the multiplayer servers.

Now, let's see if my nifty sig works now...
