I'm from Germany as well, 20 years old, I've been playing computer games for about 12 years now and I can acknowledge every single word Buster said here.

Yeah, it's difficult, german versions of computer games (apart from the fact that the translation is horrible in most cases) often are censored not to get banned ("indiziert"), but if you have your (legal) sources like smaller-sized gamestores and are willing to pay prices a little higher than usual you will, as an adult, never have a problem to buy UK or US versions of games in Germany. That's right, Kristov, there ain't any law against it.

Additionally, we have a law called "Indizierung", it can be compared to banning. When a game gets "indiziert", it's no longer allowed to advertise for and sell it in public - but no matter, if you're older than 18, there are stores where you can get such games. And that's the LAW: it's even explicitly said that you're allowed to buy it if you reached a certain age. Same thing as with porn flicks and extremly violent stuff, the only difference is that they automatically get "indiziert".

About the nazi stuff: it's correct that it is very difficult to get games like RtCW or MoHAA as completly uncensored US versions here in Germany since the law does not allow the sale of any material containing symbols from the era between 1933 - 1945 (German versions of games taking place in the nazi era usually are "censored" the way that the symbols get replaced by different symbols, in the case of RtCW even the storyline was completly changed). On the other hand, just the POSSESSION of such material (e.g. uncensored versions of games like RtCW or MoHAA) is NOT illegal as long as you don't display it publicly. Why? This way the law doesn't turn my grandparents into criminals if they just for historical reasons still own e.g. a copy of "Mein Kampf", on the other hand it makes it impossible / illegal for modern nazis to use such things e.g. on parades here in Germany. Therefore, if I find a way to get a copy of RtCW or MoHAA US (uncensored), e.g. like I did - import it from Austria where nazi stuff is legal, I do not have a problem with the law, the one who sales it to me doesn't, no one has. Understood?

And talking 'bout the comparison of nudity on TV: Germany - United States, I've been to the States for quite a while and I can tell you, it's a huge difference. Some of the stuff you can see on german TV from 8 pm on NEVER would be allowed on american TV screens before midnight, I can assure you. Other way round with violence, this is where Germany is sensitive and american TV is not.

So far, just my two EURO-cents. :s20:
