You are absolutely right narc. You don’t need a trigger_ladder.
Only one problem though, the ladder brush is in “worldspawn”, and you cant use the “angles” key in “worldspawn”. That is the only function of the trigger_ladder; to determine which way the player will be pushed while climbing the ladder.
The trigger is useless if you don’t set the “angles” parameters.

Using the trigger_ladder with the “angles” key set correctly can have its advantages.

For instance, you can climb the ladder using the backwards key so you are looking down as you climb. This way you can see if an enemy is approaching and blow his head off. lol

But yes, it can also make it harder to climb down the ladder. most of the time I just bounce off the top of it.

without the angles key the ladder often throws players off when they try to climb up and they are slightly off center. Its a real PITA either way.

I have never used the trigger ladder and never got pushed off 1 yet I find it easy to go up or down and to get on them from the side plus it is very hard to make a mistake with just the ladder texture.
I have made a lot of network maps since GTK 1.2.10 come out and like I said never had a problem with 1 yet.
Some people like to do it the text book way I like to try to find new ways we each have our own ways so I can not say witch way is better as it is down to personal choice.

i like that also J4FswampyG,
to find new ways to make things work.
( alittle example that will be used by manny is for instance using the func_slidingdoor for elevators).
