1st I would like to say to take someone’s brush work and put it your own map is theft with out there permission so please do not use this to do that it is there I think to help us learn from the pro made maps not to nick someone’s work..

You can get q3map2tooz from

www.planetquake.com/hro/webs/q3map2toolz.htm

And the new q3map from

www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4790

To set it up you have to do some small things like this click add then put this line in q3map2.exe -convert -format map -v -game sof2 -fs_basepath C:/sof2 C:/sof2/maps/
Then Tick bsp

And tick the -fs_basepath

You have to go to the bsp on top and click custom and convert

You have to add this on the bottom -format map like this

"C:Program FilesSoldier of Fortune II - Double Helixq3map_2.5.8_win32_x86q3map2.exe" -connect 127.0.0.1:39000 -convert -format map -fs_basepath "C:Program FilesSoldier of Fortune II - Double Helix" -game sof2 "C:Program FilesSoldier of Fortune II - Double Helixasemaps

Each time you run this you have to restart q3map2tooz and add the –format map for it to work.

Please do not use someone’s brush work as your own.

If you want to look at some screenshots of the above go to my pwp as I could not get then to work on here LOL [withstupid]

It is here www.swampyg.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/photo.htm

raven maps will give you some Surprise like the use of patch mesh for windows and doors and the use of hint tool in Jordon so now we can learn from the pros [devilishgrin]

wow, just tried this out myself and I just had to make a comment.

I hope no one steals someone else's brush work. It does however show you how Raven makes its maps. Let's hope people use this tool for good, not evil.

I got an email quite a while back from a person wanting to modify redrum's keep to support many gametypes. I deleted the map file months ago which was kind of stupid on my part.
With this tool someone could take that bsp and work on it. Correct?? I personally don't want to. But if anyone else wants to try and redo it for the other gametypes you have my blessing. Also the FPS really sucks in that map.
And I agree that if someone uses this tool with evil intent it would not be a good thing for the mapping community unless they have the consent of the original author.

On a small map 10 or 30 seconds and yes leave the dos window open don’t forget to add the - format map to the main line

"C:\Program Files\Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix\q3map_2.5.10_win32_x86\q3map2.exe" -connect 127.0.0.1:39000 -convert -format map -fs_basepath "C:\Program Files\Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix" -game sof2 "C:\Program Files\Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix\base\maps\kill.bsp">>C:\PROGRA~1\Q3MAP2~1\Logs\killbsp.log

or you will get a ase file not a converted.map

Personnally, I am going to go use this tool right now, I had been waiting for MisterCrash to finish his stargate map, and was waiting and waiting, finally wrote him asking when I ciould host it, and he said he dropped the project after his drive crahsed... but that I could finish it for him, IF I could get the *.map file from the beta.bsp file... I don't want to change it, or take credit at all, I just to play this map... its pretty sweet as is, but he never quite finished the "planet" between the gates... which is just a final touch if you will...

My lazyness took over... he ditched it, and I have my own maps to work on... but it is pretty sweet as is... So I'm still going to host it...

but I am on the search for a map file I make for sof1, hopefully I can still find the bsp...
