I have a high end system with Windows XP Office installed on it and I have no problem at all playing games with it. My friend just ordered a system to be built and he said the professional gamers advised him that Windows 2000 works much better for gaming and that XP has a lot of bugs to be worked out and is not recommended for gaming. What's up my friends-your opinions please.

XP hands down. 2000 was NT 4 with a few more bells and whistles. It was not however designed to run games well.

Seems like those gamers aren't too professional. XP beats 2000 any day on game support. Even though a lot of people hate XP, it's the best OS i've had. And I've had them all since Win95.

XP works fine for gaming. The improved stability is a big plus.

98/se/me (realy all the same os) is realy still best for gameing though as it is not quite the memory hog that xp is. granted if you buy enough ram that doesnt realy mater. i use xp though and with 512mb it does fine. who ever told you 2000 is clueless.

XP Pro is a better gaming machine in my opinion, although I have friends that swear by 2k. Cheers, TB

i have no problems with xp... oh yes i can t run carmageddon 2 on it but for actual games, no problems

Problem with 98 is it doesn't manage memory worth a crap. But if you don't mind constantly rebooting... I would never go back myself. XP.
