Hey folks... tried the test under a few different settings, but I'm not sure it's reading right.  The first setting had it registering around 37 +/- 1 and the other reading was 127 steady... both of these were unchanged before and after lockup in SP.  Do these sound even remotely close to you guys?

Sounds like you have 1 reading in celsius and the other not.
Also, are you sure you've chosen the correct sensors chips for your board from the list on the website?
Sounds about right but...

Yeah I picked the ones it pointed out, and I think you're right about the celsius thing, originally I thought the 127 might be referring to something else.  I have a TON of air moving through this system, so I really don't think heat is an issue.

Okay... may i say something i guess i should be glad about ?....

I installed the game once.
Never had lag, lockups, freezes, warped guns, fog, darkness... or anything else wrong with it...
I just play with no problems... maybe it would help if i gave my config ?.... so u'all know what works ?...

I use an Intel P-IV 1,6 - 512
A Via Chipset.
512 DDR RAM
Creative G-FORCE 3 ti 64 DDR
6 HD's IBM deskstar 80 gig 7200 rpm

(my card's inside)
4 HD's are on a promise raid controller. (striped)
a studio de luxe video editingcard from pinnacle.
An isdn adapter from FRITS.
A creative soundblaster Audigy. (with a stereo attached)
Mouse and keyboard from Logitec on Logitec USB Hub.
iiyama 21" TFT screen.
Epson USB scanner 1250 (connected allways.)
Runs on Windows XP home (clean install)

I use no extra cooling but the 2 fans inside the casing.
temp is usual around 45 degrees C.
I do use a maxi tower though.
sometimes i play for 6 hours straight.
My 'Puter runs 24 hours a day.
I allways update my drivers on all hardware.

Never had a problem with SOF2 so far... only a cmd in the console doesn't work.. thats it.. (other post..)

Whoops.. shouldn't have said that....:-))

(just joking)

so you see.. plenty that could go wrong.. but doesnt...
Hope it helps any.

I am running SoF2 at 40DegC at this time. the mobo temp is 29DegC. the temp of the sticky thermometre on the side of my case says 24DegC.

5mins' after booting up it was idleing at 36DegC. 5mins' after shutting down SoF2 the mobo temp is 28DegC, and the CPU is reading 37DegC.

when overclocked it still runs no higher than 44DegC(load)

Hope this helps ;) ...

Just to clarify my earlier results I went through the test again and I came up with a steady 37 degrees before and during lockups/crashes.

all this temperature monitoring is a load of cr@p, why?  because i use my system to render animation and 3d scenes, some of my renders take about 6 hours.  When it renders 100% of my system resources is used up and theres no way i could do anything else while its rendering. Now i've never had my system crash while rendering, whereas SOFII does crash and its certainly not to do with my system temp or drivers or bios', the fact fact that SOFII crashes is due to poor QA period.  I wish Raven/Activision gets the fingers out of their @rses and release a patch to solve this.  Alot of people have paid upto £40 for this game, i think we deserve a fix sooner than later instead of all this system temperature cr@p.

For the record my system is a 42 when rendering but only 39 when SOFII crashes.

After going crazy with the lockups I am starting to believe that it may be heat related.......I do have two types of crashes........one that doesn't happen as often brings up a screen on the game screen with an application error message.......that one Raven is working on fixing with the next patch after being sent the info from my drwatson files...... The other type of crash which happens far more often is the one where the "do you want to send the info to Microsoft" message appears......by the way I don't play the single player game, only multi.........

After installing the motherboard monitor I noticed that when the temp gets up near 60 degrees celsius, I start getting game crashes......

Something else that leads me to believe that the heat may be the problem is when I was running the 3DMark 2001 for benchmarks it was shutting down before the tests were over....however, If I ran it cool (after the computer had just started up for the day the test completed) and scored a 9879 benchmark.

Don't know that the heat is the problem for sure but it's starting to look that way to me........

I don't recall your system specs so forgive me if we've looked at this already but I've had 2 more people in the last day look at my other thread here concerning lockups and have removed a stick of ram and that solved their problem.
Either a bad/flaky stick of ram or mixing multiple sticks of different types/brands can be a problem that may not be realized until the system is pushed.

Clocking my Gf3Ti500 back towards default cured my crashes. other games ran fine with an overclock, but perhaps they never heated up the GPU as much as SoF?...

PS. i think it'd be a lot more interesting to see peoples graphics/GPU temps, rather than CPU temps. unfortunatly my card has no hardware monitoring. anyone got a DigiDoc for sale? :p ...
