I just want to make clear to everyone the importance of backing up youre .map files to cd or floppy.

Yesterday my hard drive crashed (self distructed), the computer could not detect it. I bought a new one and installed windows and gtk back on it but I did not have a backup copy of my .map file on cd to reload.[sick]

However I did upload it to my website a few hours earlier for someone to take a look at, had I not done that then months of work would have been lost. [biggrin]

So BACK IT UP NOW !!!! [twoguns]

A fresh install of the entire system (after backups) once or twice a year definatly helps as well.. It brings back a lot of performance for all Windows users.

I think I mentioned this about a hundred times already. When I work I may have anywhere from 5 to 8 versions of the map in progress and saved in two different places. [casanova]

Another good idea is to email ur map files to yourself or a friend as an attachment. If anything ever happens to ur harddrive at least u will have them in ur e mail or on a buddys pc.

you could take the old drive plug it in and look at it as an extra drive? Make sure you are using ntfs on both drives for this to work. I know it seems simple but trust me I recover data for clients after their system goes down, and that is how I do it usually. Just a tip. btw.. I am new... Hello fellow gamers.

may I sugest a solution better than CDs...

I baught 2 hard disk. one is my Operating system and one my storage disk.

I made an image on the Oprating system one partition.
et voila.

Problem with the OS re image the C from the D.
The image I made is all configure with want i use for DEV.

This is time saving espacially when you get strike by a virus.
in the past it happened once. Boy i was glad to have that image set.

Drive Image 7 rocks.

what kind of komputer is it, because if it's a hp then that's normal and it will happen again, because hp supplies their computer with powersupplies with wrong voltages.
i don't know why they are doing this, but i thing the purpose of this is to make damege to your computer components so you'll get new parts or perhaps new computer.
