The first thread seems a BIG cop out by Raven why...because my system is updated to all the latest driver, bios etc...my system is MORE then adequate to run SOF II, everything is as suggested by RamRod yet it still crashes all the time. Sure SOF is pushing your system to give the best gaming experience yet it still crashes when i set it at ridiculously low settings far below what my system is capable of.
my system is: XP1800+, 768 Mb ddr (all crucial), 20 gig of free HD left, Quadro 2 pro, Audigy player, abit KR7A. My system is rock solid, i use it for 3D animation and have had it recently rendering for 13 hours non stop and it did not crash once.
I got the game running at the very basic options yet it still crashes back to the desktop. This isn't a question about systems its a question about severe lack of QA period. £35 for a game si not cheap and i think everybody deserves a game that can at least play without crashing. I've given up playing until Raven can get their @rse in gear and release a patch which i would imagine wil probably need to be as large as the games itself. |

| Quote (wolf359 @ June 09 2002, 10:35) | | that's with exactly the same hardware/software. none of them were running above 46c (which for an AMD 1800XP isn't too hot). you could even swap the graphics cards/hard disks around and the fault will stay with the system... |
That sounds like defective Mainboards to me. Abit?
As for hard locks, I mainly get this if I install OpenAl on my Windows 98 SE machine with a SBLive 5.1. Ocasionally the same will happen if never install OpenAl, and even after uninstalling OpenAl the locking continues.
Immediately upon starting the game, before the menus even, I get a white screen with and error that is unreadable with a close button. Upon closing I am returned to an over-gamma corrupted desktop that will not respond to anything and a power down is required.
I have to reinstall windows to fix it. |

i've had this as well. but in my case if i simply restart the game and then close it down my gamma is restored to normal.
AntiSnipe: no the boards were fine, if you simply swapped hard drive, then the fault remained (this eliminated software),if you swapped graphics card the fault remained this eliminated the graphics card), but if you swapped hard drive and graphics card then the fault would be transferred to the new motherboard. we swapped motherboards with other brand new ones and the fault persisted. in the end we changed brand (from gigabyte to elite) and all 5 could be made OK. but we've had exactly the same problem with gigabyte, elite, sis and Abit boards. as i said it's a very tenous problem (which is probably why they haven't fixed it yet)
BTW the gamma problem has also occurred with JKII and MOHAA so, it appears to me, to be because the game is really pushing the envelope. |

I'm beginning to get peeved at all new games coming out at the moment... SoF II first, either locked up, crashed to the desktop, or randomly resetted my computer. Morrowind, either locked up, or restarted the computer. Just bought Medal of Honour Allied Assualt today, and it either locks up, crashes to the desktop, or resets my stupid computer. Something is either seriously wrong and/or there are missing drivers with my computer, or else the developers are overlooking something (which I seriously doubt!! ) Can someone please help me... AMD Athlon 2000 XP 512 DDR Ram GeForce 3 Ti 500 Soundblaster Audigy Windows XP Home Edition Creative 5.1 Speakers Btw, how do you find the make of your motherboard, RAM make etc? Any help here would be extremely appreciated! I've now tried almost everything written in these posts, and to no God #### avail! |
