You know, I've owned this game since the second day it was out and started the single player aspect of it and thought that coding was not as good on the single player as the multi player. I average 20 FPS on SP and average 45 PFS on MP. I've gone into the settings and reduced things but this single player aspect of this game is pure sloppy IMO. I even went back and installed SoF1 just to see how it was and I ran 1024 x 768 with all the options cranked and it's a much better game even though it doesn't have as much eye candy. I really think that Raven spent too much time paying attention to eye candy and not enough attention to the other aspects of this game.

Right now I'm in the jungle as I've deemed the SP game unplayable anymore because it looks like a slide show. In the jungle I average 20 FPS and I'm in the spot leading up to the heli and walking threw the waters and I average 15 FPS. When I get into the heli my FPS are around 15 to 20 but as soon as I grab the mounted gun my frames drop 9 and then when the action starts it drops to 6 FPS. This is totally unacceptable to put a game out like this guys. No I'm not whining but these are the pure and simple facts. Lots of people are having problems with your single player aspect of the game. I've installed new drivers and adjusted my settings lower then I should have to for this game and the game still runs like crap in SP. I'm starting to think that Raven was too interested in the MP side of this game then in the SP part.

Overall, this game was not worth the $50 that they were asking for it at all. I would rather play the first SoF then this version for SP, and I have returned to the first version because this made me think what a great game the first one was. Eye candy does not make up for sloppy coding guys. I'm beginning to think that no one was working on cleaning up the SP aspect of the game when the MP was being beta tested. If it had been they would have noticed the same crap that I did.

My system specs are like this:
PIII 750
Gainward Golden Sample GF3
512 MB ram

This game was installed right after I defragged my hard drive and it still sucks. And just a note, recommending that the game be played in 640x480 with all the eye candy in this game is just plain stupid. What's the point in putting all that crap in if it looks grainy? I would have much rather had good graphics and more concentration on the playablity of this game then great graphics with crap FPS. To average 20 fps on my system in not acceptable and I'm starting to think that Raven is smoking the same crap that the guys at Valve are. And to have to own a 2 GHZ processor just to be able to look at this game in decent resolution was a poor decision as well. Even guys that own really fast PC's are having problems with this game. I've been through you FPS tips and they don't work. So I've come to the conclusion that it has to be poor coding. Max Payne was a #### of a taxing system but the game ran fine on my PC because it had good coding.

I surely hope that the patch you guys put out fixes some of these frame rates otherwise this will be the last SoF game that I buy.

Signed,

A unsatisfied customer.

I forgot to mention, the MP of this game is great. Good Job Raven on the MP part of this game. I like the introduction of the demolition maps and I think it will prove SoF2 as a contender with CS on the MP part of it.

My only other gripe about this game is like I stated before, the weapons. The primary weapons seem to have been left out of this release. I don't see any great guns on MP servers other than the AK and the M4. No one uses the grenade laucher or the rocket launcher in Infiltration because it makes the game to short lived. You should have limited how many people can carry one of these weapons when on a server. 20 people running around with a grenade launcher just isn't fun. The choice of basicly 4 primary weapons in MP in this game with only 2 really used makes the game and the character developement kind of linear as well.

Not as good as your first effort but the MP is pretty good. Nice job on the maps guys.

while i must admit that i have my own set of complants about the game i think i have an idea as to were your problems with framerate lye.  your cpu and sysetem bus speed are both on the on the low end of the scale these days and i have a feeling that it is haveing trouble feeding your gefroce3 at higher resolutions and graphics settings while also driveing the ai.  im guessing that you are running at 1024x768 with the settings cranked rather high.  you have a respectable video card but it takes more than that to run this game with the settings cranked up. sure the original runs great, its three years old and ment to run great on much slower systems than what you have. however, if you want to run current games at high settings you have to have current hardware and that doesnt just aply to the video card.

Also the MP was optimized for better performance by leaving out a lot of the eye candy. SP has the special glass breakage, much better gore, bodies/parts/blood that hang around longer, and other particle effects ect that Mp doesn't utilize. This, I have read, was to ensure smooth internet play and it works well. But for SP I would rather have the eye candy. I run it on a 1.1G Tbird, Gforce 2 Ultra, with 512 MEG PC 133 Ram at 1024x768 with most options all the way up and it runs just fine. I had very little stutter in the SP. But your processor is a good deal slower than mine. Also make sure all background stuff is turned off and that all drivers are up to date especially that video card. Latest WHQL Nvidia drivers made a big difference for me. Personally I think they did a good job of getting it to run on a wide range of systems. You have to consider that at this point there are Computers out there with processors running well over 2GHz. Plus they have RAMBUS or DDR RAM and much faster bus speeds. Eventually you do need to upgrade that system. I'll most likely be upgrading later this year. I'm waiting to see what's coming next before jumping into it.

Actually, if you would have bother reading the post rather than just reading the title I think you would have seen that I had the setting set at what was recommended by the game. I did turn up the resolution to 800x600 at first but then I turned it back down to 640x480 when I got to the jungle scene. And so you know, turning it back down gained me a whole whopping 2 fps. After that I just continued to turn things down so that the game was somewhat playable. But on the end scene, it's not playable and downright not fun.

While my system maybe getting on in age it certainly should be able to run this game without being a slideshow. I think that the specifications for what's recommended and required need a bit of tweaking. I couldn't even begin to imagine what this game would look like with a 450mhz processor. Most people don't have the money to upgrade on a yearly basis and I'm fairly certain that the majority of people don't own a 1 to a 1.5 ghz computer, thus making this title a bit limited to an audience that played the first SoF.

While I agree that MP doesn't have as much eye candy as the SP, the jungle scene is pretty intense with eye candy and I don't seem to have a problem running it in the least bit. Sure my frames are great but they aren't horrid by any means either.

I always have my backround things turned off except for the bare minimums. When I go into the game I start out at 92% resources free, but then leave the game not more then a 1/2 hour later and i'm at 76% resources free. They got a good job done at making it run on a wide range of upper end systems would be the better classification for it.

My point in being is that with the options all turned down this game still looks like crap. Eye candy is fine but like I said, what's the point in having it if you can't run a decent resolution to see it without being grainy? Even in the FAQ it says that you should run this game at 640x480 because of overheating your CPU/GPU.  I know I'll have to upgrade my system soon and that's fine, I've been looking into that actually.

Well, I will continue to enjoy the MP and ignore the SP and play SoF1 SP again since I can actually run it without it being a slide show. I've played better games.....

I recently bought the game aswell and found that SP is a really big let down. After paying $90 for it, all I ask for is a smooth playing game with a great story. To start off with, the MP runs slightly faster / smoother than the SP and after recently upgrading my computer to a:

AMD Athlon XP 1800
256MB DDR
GeForce 3 'Classic'
Windows XP

I've found that the highest resolution I can play at without all the stuttering and garbage is 1152x864 and that is JUST PASSABLE. Although the MP is slightly more playable it still doesn't make up for the price I payed. I'm very disappointed and I hope that a patch is released ASAP to resolve these problems and hopefully get it to play like the fantastic smoothness and playability of JK2. As i can play JK2 @ 1600x1200 and it runs as smooth as anything.

ya know, even if it played smooth, you`d just realize how uninspired and linear the sp game is. Trust me, stick with multi. Its more filling. ;0)

Obviously, your aged P3 is holding you back.
You can't expect good frame rates these days with a system like that.

I agree about the single player being bland. I'm tired of sneaking around, trying not to set off alarms. I hate the slow moving cutscenes, the bad voice acting and the relatively small levels. It's just repetitive, turn the corner, kill 3 bad guys, rinse, repeat.

It's saving grace  is the multiplayer. I like the RMG, too.

And to think that they were not going to release this with multiplayer support.

the same flicking thing happend to me, the SP campaign runs like crap and the loading time are a pain in the ass and when im playing it swaps like crazy which makes everything really slow. My Settings are 1024x768 all maxed out, I even tried to reduce to 640x480 min detail but with no luck.
My sys spec. are:

Athlon 1.2
256 MB PC133
30GB 7200RPM WD
Geforce4 ti4400

I dont consider this a low system at all.

Not only runs like crap but the game itself it no improvement over the first one, it only have better graphics but they arent so great, not like the ones from Jedi Knight II or Medal of Honor.

I hope Raven realese a patch soon to fix the SP issues or i will through it to the garbage.
I cant even play MP because i have a modem and it runs like crap. I cant belive they didnt include BOTS lot of people still have modems and they cant play over the internet so i cant comment on MP.

see you :s15:

Considering SOF2 is no better looking then current games like RTCW/MOH and still runs at 20-40fps says it all really.

I said many times before u can just tell its poorly optimised.

I mean lets face it at one stage Im in a train with simple textures and no detail/motion and im getting 20fps.

With an XP2000/GF4 ti4200 all max 1024x768. Get slightly higher performance by reducing the settings but even then its only 25-30fps.

SOF2 is just badly optimised, if its graphics were amazing then id understand but it aint.

MOH/RTCW run far too fast.... but JK2/SOF2 dont seem that well :s17:
