Actually, if you would have bother reading the post rather than just reading the title I think you would have seen that I had the setting set at what was recommended by the game. I did turn up the resolution to 800x600 at first but then I turned it back down to 640x480 when I got to the jungle scene. And so you know, turning it back down gained me a whole whopping 2 fps. After that I just continued to turn things down so that the game was somewhat playable. But on the end scene, it's not playable and downright not fun.
While my system maybe getting on in age it certainly should be able to run this game without being a slideshow. I think that the specifications for what's recommended and required need a bit of tweaking. I couldn't even begin to imagine what this game would look like with a 450mhz processor. Most people don't have the money to upgrade on a yearly basis and I'm fairly certain that the majority of people don't own a 1 to a 1.5 ghz computer, thus making this title a bit limited to an audience that played the first SoF.
While I agree that MP doesn't have as much eye candy as the SP, the jungle scene is pretty intense with eye candy and I don't seem to have a problem running it in the least bit. Sure my frames are great but they aren't horrid by any means either.
I always have my backround things turned off except for the bare minimums. When I go into the game I start out at 92% resources free, but then leave the game not more then a 1/2 hour later and i'm at 76% resources free. They got a good job done at making it run on a wide range of upper end systems would be the better classification for it.
My point in being is that with the options all turned down this game still looks like crap. Eye candy is fine but like I said, what's the point in having it if you can't run a decent resolution to see it without being grainy? Even in the FAQ it says that you should run this game at 640x480 because of overheating your CPU/GPU. I know I'll have to upgrade my system soon and that's fine, I've been looking into that actually.
Well, I will continue to enjoy the MP and ignore the SP and play SoF1 SP again since I can actually run it without it being a slide show. I've played better games..... |

Obviously, your aged P3 is holding you back. You can't expect good frame rates these days with a system like that.
I agree about the single player being bland. I'm tired of sneaking around, trying not to set off alarms. I hate the slow moving cutscenes, the bad voice acting and the relatively small levels. It's just repetitive, turn the corner, kill 3 bad guys, rinse, repeat.
It's saving grace is the multiplayer. I like the RMG, too.
And to think that they were not going to release this with multiplayer support. |

the same flicking thing happend to me, the SP campaign runs like crap and the loading time are a pain in the ass and when im playing it swaps like crazy which makes everything really slow. My Settings are 1024x768 all maxed out, I even tried to reduce to 640x480 min detail but with no luck. My sys spec. are: Athlon 1.2 256 MB PC133 30GB 7200RPM WD Geforce4 ti4400 I dont consider this a low system at all. Not only runs like crap but the game itself it no improvement over the first one, it only have better graphics but they arent so great, not like the ones from Jedi Knight II or Medal of Honor. I hope Raven realese a patch soon to fix the SP issues or i will through it to the garbage. I cant even play MP because i have a modem and it runs like crap. I cant belive they didnt include BOTS lot of people still have modems and they cant play over the internet so i cant comment on MP. see you |

Considering SOF2 is no better looking then current games like RTCW/MOH and still runs at 20-40fps says it all really. I said many times before u can just tell its poorly optimised. I mean lets face it at one stage Im in a train with simple textures and no detail/motion and im getting 20fps. With an XP2000/GF4 ti4200 all max 1024x768. Get slightly higher performance by reducing the settings but even then its only 25-30fps. SOF2 is just badly optimised, if its graphics were amazing then id understand but it aint. MOH/RTCW run far too fast.... but JK2/SOF2 dont seem that well |
