20100 is used....

But isnt sof2 like sof1
where it uses the next 5 ports also?
So why wouldn't u open up in your router
port 20100-20105

The reason I ask is...
Last night we had the MM Clan dedicated server up..
Some people could connect and see it no problem..
others could not see it at all.
WAS THIS DUE TO THEM BEING ON A DIFFERENT PORT? :s8:

I put Ethereal on my machine and started the game. I noticed that the Raven Master servers were sending info on ports 20110, 20111, 20112. This is for FYI for most. I also noticed that other servers used 20100, 20101, 20102, 20103, 20104 and 20105.

I even noticed some odd findings such as a "connetionless Quake server" Not too sure what that was or was it something left over from the Quake Arena Multiplayer engine?

I am very close to solving this puzzle, an hour here and there.  I expect to have all done by next week.  Of course any help from raven on this would be great!

It also seems that we have another server posting bug for Raven, so I am not sure if I am hitting this bug or if  :s8:

As always feel free to email me, especially Raven.

Well we got our server up last night...

After testing everything and anything....We figured how to get your server to show up.

As for scooby n I, we had to go into his router and open up port range

If you have a router or firewall, they block ports..

Well Raven Claims that SOF2 runs on port 20100...
Umm yea it does...But it also runs on like 10,000 other ports..

Scooby had to go into his router and open up ports

                             20100~28070

why so huge of a range sof1 used to only use 5 ports?

Well theres your fix folks...curtosiy of the Mass Murderers.

We had our server pack all alst night Without any problems... :s4:

I have a tough time believing that Raven used so many ports. I wonder if we can open a smaller range or maybe two small ranges. Opening up such a huge range leaves you wide open for attacks through your firewall.

Thanks for the info and I will run some more Ethereal test and see if I can narrow the range down.

Later,

Raven, help here?

No way. Even in a Cisco router, you only need UDP 20100 open. The master server ports are outbound traffic, not inbound.
