Okay after a lot of fanfare and ppl kicking me to get this game I finally did.  I hadn't been too impressed with the demo, but hey, that's just a demo, right?

So I load it up, get my config going and hop online.  I played about 45 minutes and shut down.  I almost thought about uninstalling.

What a boring game!  For the flamers, I have played a bunch more times just to make sure.  My rig is a 1.33 gig, 256 ram, 64 meg vid, cable modem.

Basically, I didn't see anything that SOF2 added on top of the FPS genre.  It's CS without the buying.  At least Wolfenstein added a few new gameplay ideas, not that it was a great game.  Global Ops for all it's lag issues is light years ahead.

While the random map generator is an awesome idea, that doesn't make the gameplay alone.  The models and animation are clunky, sniping is #### hard because ppl jump around like pogo sticks and lag to pieces.

Everyone kept saying this game was revolutionary.  Totally different.  HOW?  I honestly don't see it.  They saw that CS was really popular and said, "hey, let's make that with better graphics."  Then they took out gun buying because...I don't know, it was too complicated?

It's about as team-oriented as masturbating (i.e., not at all).  It's just team death match and if you do the objective that's great.  The maps are horribly unbalanced, with some objectives being seconds away from one team.  Hello?

Everyone starting with full gear means the only thing you're pushing for is your K:D and if you're a nice person, your team score.  There's no "penalty" for dying like losing a gun (unless it's a sit out 'till end round mission) so ppl just come in like rabbits or they got their 1 inch of head sticking from behind a wall shooting through it.

The game reminds me of Team Fortress Classic.  TFC was a cartoon.  Everyone knew it.  It was wild and wacky.  I thought SOF2 was realistic or at least remotely realistic.

Anyway, sorry to spew, but I'm pissed I wasted my $.  I expect a lot of flames, but if anyone wants to point out what is NEW and ORIGINAL about this game, I'm all ears.

Well I don't see anything revolutionary either but it's still fun multiplay. As for CS I rarely see anyone complete the objectives there either. Usually hostages, and the rest of the players, stand around waiting while the last two guys spend 5 mins trying to find each other. That stuff is boring to me. I want to play. Yea, yea then don't die right. Well no matter how good you are you are going to spend a good deal of time waiting around for the next match unless you are so good you are one of those last two guys. What happened to your team? Geeze that doesn't sound too team oriented either does it. I know there's a lot more to it than that but you can see how anyone can turn a game around and make it sound like it's something it's not. It's all in how you look at it. Some of us find enjoyment in SOF 2 and some don't. I do respect the man's opinion. But not everyone feels that way.

All of those CS fans who hate SOF2 probably were expecting it would run fine on their computers and it didn't. The fact is that CS runs on pretty much anything, since the requirements are low. Instead of coming here to be flamed, they should upgrade and stfu. Now, that's another smart thing to do.
"Duh! I'll go to the SOF forum and, uh... Oh, yeah! I'm gonna tell them how much it sucks and... Narf! they'll see how much better CS is. Gravy!" :s10:

Ive seen a lot of team play. Its pretty funny, sometimes i'll join a server and tell people to follow me, and they dont, and they end up the first to die while I get the highest score ;P
I like it when people play as a team though, it just makes it cooler.

Give it a few more hours.  I thought it sucked too at first.  But after reading some of the advice here and playing longer, it's really cool.  Nothing revolutionary in terms of gameplay.  But it'd be impossible to go back to the original SOF (which even using the Q2 engine still blows away all of the newer games).

I've got JK2, Operation Flashpoint, and MOH still unopened.  Went directly from GR/DS to SOF2.  No sense jiving around.

About realism in CS:
set g_sarcasm 1
The next time there's a war, I'll open a weapon store so that soldiers will buy their weapons from me. I'll be rich in no time.
Thanks CS, you showed us the way it really is. And to think I thought soldiers got their weapons from the government. :s10:
