Hi, basically although im pretty sure what ive selected is top notch i want to make sure, and Ive noticed over the past weeks you guys are up on pcs.

1) Can you confirm these parts will "work" with eachother, i.e, is that m board right for that processor etc

2) Just you opinion :)

the components are:

Western Digital 120 gig 7200 rpm hard drive
Abit KX7 333 RAID motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (with Akasa Icicle 785 Socket A Cooler)
Ge Force 4 Titanium 4600 ( :) )
512mb DDR 2700 ram

Do i need a 300w case for this?

and dont worry, im not too stupid, already got case, cd rom, etc etc etc, just updating my current pc using the above componenets)

thx for help

Instead of the 120, get two 60s, and put them in RAID-0 with that motherboard.  If you can affored it, get 4, and put it in RAID 0+1.

I'd say 300W minimum.

Most definitely get a 400w power supply. I would recommend Antec.

AMD's run hot and you'll want to add extra cooling fans that run off the P/S. Throw in RAID and multiple drives you definately want as many watts as you can get.

Go to this website and ask this guy.  I was going for a 300wt and ended up with a 460 watt.  He knows more about this stuff than most I have talked to.
www.torcpc.com  see Vic.  Tell him Glen sent u.  Yes, I am biased and he built my computer...

I have seen a large number of reported problems with Geforce 4 Ti cards (mostly with 4400, though) and Via KT333 chipset motherboards.

I'd reccommend a P4 Northwood.  The last 2 AMD's I bought have already burned out.  A 1.2GHz 9 months ago, and an 1600+XP.  Screenshots available for the skeptics. Hella good cooling too.

Also, 120Gb is a big disk.  Are you ever going to use it all?  Do you do what you are supposed to do?  Reformat and do a fresh OS install at least once a month.  It'll allow you NOT to have to use a firewall or virus protection.  How many games do you play in a month?

My 60Gb is too big for all the cleanup that needs to be done.

There are no problems with any gf cards. I have a 4400 myself.
there are plenty of people running gf4s with no problems.

You format your drives at least once a month? Why in Gods name would one do that?
Isn't that a bit excessive?
