I just installed SOF II and played a few random missions without a problem...  I have tried the first single player mission 3 times and it locks up / freezes in nearly the exact spot each time.  I more than meet the minium requirments...  system config is:

AMD XP 1900
512mb DDR Ram
GeForce3 TI 500 (latest drivers as of 5-29)
SB Audigy Gamer (latest drivers as of 5-29)
Win2000 SP2 (all updates as of 5-29)

The really annoying thing besides the lock up, is the fact that I have to go through the mission intro each time because I have to reboot my system.  Anyone know anything about a patch in the works for such problems?

Join the bus dude. I'd love to help ya, but i get the very same problem.

People have given suggestions, but none of them have done anything for me.

And so far I havnt seen any support from Raven, they seem to only post and reply about FPS problems *hint hint raven*

Activions support also cant figure it out, now thier blaming my hardware.

But hey, at least they got past the fact that its not a driver issue.

Try the "raven 1" code for now to skip around levels that actually work.

Well I know for a fact it's not a hardware problem...  it's has to be something with the game... I can play a ton of random missions, multiplayer works fine... it's just that first single player mission locks up forcing me to reboot.  I don't have any other problems with any other games or applications on my system.  Apparently, as you have mentioned, it is not an isolated problem, and therefore should be high priority for Raven Soft / Activision to fix.  The game is still relatively new, so I don't expect a patch over night, but I would like to at least know that it is in the works and that this is a known issue.   Thanks for the reply... I will look for the suggestions in which you mentioned.

Hey RAVEN, anyone in raven that may find this of use.

Cause i'm sure it will answer a lot of questions you want to ask us users that have this problem.

Heres what i have been asked from Actvision over the last week.

All the attached files do work at the bottom of the screen, and i removed most irrelevent info and links.

Read from the bottom up....

Hmm, seems to work for me. No lockups. It could be a bad install, as some CDroms might glitch copy such huge amounts of data from CD to the hardrive. My All SCSI storage system seems to work fine. The CDrom I use is Plextor, which has error checking capability when doing reads. Also, if any of you are overclocking your CPU or VGA card, I'd recommend not to and check those settings to be sure you're not. Also try updating to the latest Bioses for both Motherboard/VGA cards. Some of this hardware isn't always perfect with software either.

Nothing is overclocked...  I will try an uninstall / reinstall and use my DVD drive instead of my burner drive.  But I don't think that would be the problem since my burner is a TDK 40x and should be more than capable of handling large chunks of data... but for the #### of it, I will do a reinstall on my Pioneer 16x dvd drive and see if that will solve the problem.

The funny thing is, A LOT of people are having the exact same problem, so to me, hardware is not at fault.  Thanks for the reply

Did this also, first used my DVD-drive to install, install went fine but after the first crashing of my game, I un-installed and re-installed with my CD_RW,had another crash later on in the game,re-installed video drivers, Direct x, bla, bla.

Shouldn't we be playing the game instead of posting our problems ?

Zeke... that's the problem... I would love to be playing the game instead of bitching about it, but since it crashes everytime I play in single player, I can't really play it now can I... so the resulting factor is to come on here and biscuit eater and complain until RavenSoft / Activision see's their game is at fault and they release a patch to fix it.

Did the uninstall / reinstall switching over to my DVD drive and I still get the same problem, so it isn't an issue with my system not being able to handle large chunks of data during the install.  Basically the game is flawed and everyone needs to know this...  from freezes and crashes to shitty FPS which a lot of people seem to be complaining about.  I for one have great FPS when I play in random map and multiplayer... I just can't play single player.
