How many months will it take for Raven to lose interest in SOF2 and abandon it like they did SOF1 . .

Money,  game development,  product recognition.   You can put out the best game in the world but if you dont back it up and fix the problems and market/promote it will die quickly.  

Look at Counter Stike/Half life, in my opinion a fairly weak game but the company  pushed that game and developed it fully with further patches and upgrade packs.    

SOF 1s last real patch was 1.06 .. which was like a year ago .. 1.07 was nothing just some dm maps.  

My point is that SOF 1 could have been a much more succesfull game if it were promoted more,  oh well.

SoF was supported...and 1.07 (Platinum) was a helluva lot more than a few new maps.

SoF 1.07f ditched the woefully problematic WON for GameSpy in the in-game server browser and master list, as well as adding the new maps.  It also fixed a number of other smaller issues.

IMO, SoF original was supported as far as it needed to be.
The Gold updates were neat, and then Platinum fixed up any remaining problems.
SoF wasn't really a game that was designed for survivability anyway.  Its assets were locked down fairly tight - hard coded, and we never had a working source release after Gold.
It would have been very hard to develop a mod community around it...and that's what really carries a game these days.

Raven only has so many people to dedicate to their different products.  Personally, I'm glad they were on SoF2 and Q4 instead of SoF, which was already working as well as you could want.
