In SOF1 you could tailor the difficulty/saves option.
Now if I want to have a hard game with lots of baddies, I can only save ONCE???
Did I miss something?
How is this fun? I didn't realize this was some sort of a test, I thought I bought the "game" to have fun, which means not doing the same FU#$$*$ map over and over.

Please enlighten me, I just dropped 50 bones on this, and I gotta play it on easy if I ever plan on sleeping so I don't run out of saves.

Cheers

yeah, with the advent of computers and huge harddrives you would think that saving a game as much as you desire and where you deisre. Or at least have save checkpoints every so often.

But seems the "Only save after mission" direhards are winning the seemingly frivilous battle of where is the right place to save a game, or how many times you can save is appropriate.

I could care less about their arguments. if they don't want to use the save game feature then they don't have to. But let the others save where they wish.

I love saving a game at a point, then trying a few different things to see what will happen. There is also the fact I don't really want to do the same mundane tasks 300 times in a row. Some levels you fly through. Others you die a 100 times in some really tough area, Like the level "boss".

Whatever the arguments are for limited save games per level i don't care to hear. Put the save anywhere option in, and allow the users, the people who give YOU money, the power to decide how they want to use the save option. why alienate 100 people to make 5 happy?

I bet if you 2 were to look a little closer at the difficulty settings in the browser you would see an option called 'custom'.
Why don't you go there and tell us what you see.

I like the limited saves, it creates a tension not usually found in most other first person shooters, and i wish alot more games would follow this type of save system (every other FPS im hitting quicksave like every 5 seconds, and it kinda takes away from my concentration on the game).  Although it sometimes pisses me off when i get halfway through a level and die and have to start over.

Also with the custom option you can set it to the highest difficulty with unlimited saves, but i have heard there may be a bug in some custom options for some people that wouldnt allow unlimited saves.

I play the second difficulty on SP and it gives you 3 saves. The difference that I see between easy and the second level is that they both are able to spot you at the same time but the AI is a little more accurate when firing, making it a bit more difficult. I know that I end up loading up the saved game quite a bit but the limited amount of saves doesn't bother me. And yes, the custom option lets you do anything you want with the save game thing. Having limited saves makes you work harder and appreciate the game a bit more IMO.

Yeah I was wondering about that too. Most new games have this kind of save modus, I dont know why. Im bothered that I have to play some spots over and over again. The helicopter level was a pain in the arse.
