just download the patch, its only a registry file.

dont open, just choose edit.

read the location it edits, open up your registry editor Start-Run- "regedit"

If that Keyword is there, with that setting you have it.

The AMD-Win2000 registry patch is not needed for XP (it's already incorporated).
It is not contained in any updates. You have to add it manually.
All it does is extend a memory range. I seriously doubt it causes decreased frame rates.

Yes but there are more issues then just FPS problems.
Some of us have random reboots, or even syncronized reboots @ specific points.

So that theoretically could have helped, but it didnt for me.
But was a worthy try.

Not really, it all comes down to the cluster size used to write files to the hdd, and to the CD.  And depending on the mode the CD's were written to the CD, byte size diffrences can be diffrent especially with cluster diffrences, ala

16k to 32k or 64k you'll see 1,024-3,096 in file sizes.  If I'm makeing a mistake on the file sizes someone feel free to correct me, I'm trying ot figure this out in my head :)

Oh also another thing is the diffrent types of megabyte used, HDD manufactures will ues "60" gigabyte HDD's, but in truth the drive is only 57Gb's or so.  The reason is market droids have done this to make people think they are getting more then then they actually are.  A logical megabyte is 1,024,000 a marketdroid megabyte is 1,000,000.  A diffrence of 24,000bytes, but over 10gb it shows up.

The problem with the listed sizes is that you're not looking at the right ones.
You're looking at Kilobyte sizes, which are based on 1024 bytes to a kilobyte.  That's why they appear off.
The exact sizes listed in the FAQ are exact byte sizes.  You can find these by right-clicking the file and selecting "Properties".

hyas RevTed.

"It has been noted that many problems involving missing or corrupted images, and menus with buttons that won't work, etc, may be a result of improperly installed pk3 files."

I have had intermittent corrupted images, and all my pk3s are the exact size as the faq, and I tested them with winzip as instructed. All is cool on that front. So I guess for me at least the theory isn`t holding alot of water. lol
