the agp reg patch did not solve my problem of the game locking up in single player mode.  I find it strange that the game plays fine in random map and multiplayer, but single player locks up forcing me to reboot.  system specs are as follows:

amd xp 1900
asus a7v266-m motherboard
512mb ddr ram (crucial)
VisionTek Geforce 3 TI 500 (latest drivers as of 5-29)
SB Audigy Gamer (latest drivers as of 5-29)
Windows 2000 SP2 (all available updates / hotfixes)

after looking through the message boards, I see that I am not the only person having this problem.

My suggestion is that youd do not have to use the AGP Registry patch, but rather install the latest AMD AGP miniport driver, for whatever particular OS anyone has; the latest AGP miniport drivers should already contain the AGP registry patch, I believe.

Here is the link:

OOps, my mistake:

IF YOU RUN WIN2K, you WILL NEED this AGP Registry patch. WinXP, WinME, Win98se does not require it.

However, I still suggest that everybody with an AMD chipset motherboard, download the latest AGP Miniport/chipset drivers.

VIA chipset motherboards: People will need to use the latest "4in1" drivers:

Motherboards that utilize the both the AMD chipset/VIA southbrige need both drivers above.

This is Exactly why I will always stick with Intel from now on.
I've run 2 AMD systems, One on an Abit KA7 the other on DFI AMD 760 chipset board.  I love AMD but I hate the board manufactures.  With the 760 board I got nothing but lockups.
With Intel stuff, I've never run into any problems.

I find it funny that no other games lock up on my system, no other applications lock up on my system... and even after importing the registry patch, I still have the same problem.  Let's get off the kick of blaming it on AMD...  because RavenSoft / Activision should know that AMD holds a fair share of the market and their games should be coded to play on both AMD and Intel.  It's clearly a software problem inside the game.  If people can play multiplayer and random missions without a glitch and single player locks up the system... then there is something wrong inside the single player aspect of the game.  It's not that hard to figure out.  If I wanted to watch everyone blame problems on someone else, I would watch CSPAN.  I just want RavenSoft / Activision to acknowledge the problem and FIX IT!!!

Gentlemen,

I would like to add something to your discussion. I have had Sof 2 crash on my Pentium 3 system.  Freezes like a rock, rebooting is the only recourse.
My system is not as robust as some but, I only lock up in the game mode not single missions.

System is:
Dell 4100
Win2k sp2
Pentium 3 733
512 sdram
TNT2 m64

No complaint about about SoF 2, love it, just adding a new aspect to the conversation.

haha YES...  stick that up your blow hole freaks... it's not just an AMD problem and it's not a HARDWARE problem... so stop trying to pass the blame off the game and onto system configs... the game SUCKS!!! face it and FIX it.

Gigabyte motherboard 850 Chipset
Leadtek Geoforce 4 4600 ti

Can Raven help us fix the video problems?  My buddy is having fps problems on a P4 2.2 GHZ with a geforce 4 and is still seeing low FPS.  During times of low FPS his CPU is 99% utilized.    My poor AMD 1 GHZ with Geforce 3 and 640 MB of RAM gets 9 FPS at one point on the first level.  I have updated all my drivers, motherboard and all and still have troubles.   Q3, UT, and Medal of Honor run like butter.

What kind of machine did Raven test this game on?   I love the game but won't bother playing the single player until a patch is released.

I can neither drop weapons nor pick up the sniper rifles in "Temple Ruins".  I've seen others post this problem, too.  What's up?
