i get a big increase in my frames when i turn antiostropic filtering all the way down, however i really didn't notice a difference in the textures/visuals...maybe i'm blind. i get no performance hit with 2x AA enabled, but i can see the graphics definitley look better.  why would i get a big frame hit when i change an option that hardly makes a difference visually, but get no decrease enabling AA...which is noticably better?

Im guesssing you have a geforce4 ti card, b/c with the gf4 ti's u can enable 2xaa and there is only a slight performance loss...its barely noticeable. as for the antiscoptric filtering thing, i cant tell a differnce either and i dont know what exactly it is.

I was unable to have fsaa turned on as it will make the game freeze-up, then I have to reboot. Besides if  I run the game with anisotropic filtering maxed and at 1280x1024 all other settings high or very high I do not notice much change in graphics quality. my fps is around 80-100. I also have
v-sync turned off, and no tearing affect.

I noticed the same thing. I guess aniso is poorly implemented for it to cause such a big frame rate hit. I just turned it down and left it that way. I use Quincunx AA and lose probably 10 FPS on my GF3Ti200. On a GF4 there would be no loss in FPS with 2X or Quincunx AA.

im on a gf4 ti 4200 and there performance difference i noticed with 2xaa enabled is in RTCW on the single player and multiplayer map "Castle, " with 2xaa enabled i get 30 fps on that map but disabled i get 60+, maybe its a glitch or something, but anyways thats the only performance hit ive noticed in any game with 2xaa enabled.

However with the quincux aa there is a noticeable performance hit, im pretty sure, ill check it out later though.

Another question, when you set your refresh rate to 120 is that on your monitor or through your sof2 config, just curious b/c i thought setting it too high on your monitor, more than what your video cad allows is bad for something (video car d/ monitor)

the 120 refresh is set through sof2, in console /r_displayRefresh 120, in cfg , seta r_displayRefresh "120"

it can be bad for your monitor if it does not support the refresh rate you want in the resolution you want. however, i ran my old mitsubishi monitor with 120hz 1024X768 in q3 for well over 2 years and the monitor still works fine today.

Thanks for the comparison!
