Would you like us to add an option for the RMG to have no fog in it.  You would definitely see popping of stuff off in the distance, but everything would be clear.

Just to make sure people understand too, this means NO fog for everyone, not just a client side option :)

I would love to see this option included.  I have heard a lot of players complaing about the amount of fog in RMG maps.

On the other hand though, I assume one of the reasons fog is included in the RMG maps is because the view distance within a map isn't as tightly controlled as a manually created map, and could add a lot of client lag.

How will turning off fog completely affect client performance?  And what about instead of just having an on/off fog toggle, maybe a percent value, where we can just lower the amount of fog, instead of turning it completely off?

OH YEAH! That would be nice.
Not to mention that a persons weapons tend to give them away in the fog up to a certain distance anyways.

Is there away to extend the view distance?
Is it a matter of far view plane culling that you can set as a server side variable. I'd be willing to sacrifice a few FPS (when I get them back.  ;)  ) for really awesome looking maps.

Performance should go up, but you will see "popping" as buildings come into view (ie, the building wont be there one minute and the next it will).

dunno  tough question to ask .. yea  i  might like the  option to shut it off  .. like in the col1 map

but  the fog adds   to the  effect  in a good  ctf game  if other users have this set to off this could become an exploit

could it not ?
and yea if it affected all platyers such as a c var yes that would be neta  ..but .. no i love the fog

adds to the gameplay if ya ask  me

atmosphere  is where  thast comes into play if it's such a performance hot on other  peoples system   then yes add that as a cvar  for the server .. me ..i'll  quit the server  ..i like the fog in the levels ..  dunno the RMG that way  is   really cool to play

It would be a server side cvar (or something like that).  Performance wouldn't be affected, as the fog is practically free (it is using hardware fogging).

The view distance is based upon the server's distance it sends things down the networking pipe.  Increasing the distance increases network traffic.  You wouldn't want to make this a client side variable, as one player with a greater range would have a greater advantage.
