BTW those settings above are only for 9X based OSs.

Right, and those settings will actually hurt performance in Win98 and WinMe.

The MinFileCache & MaxFileCache entries were created for Win95 because memory allocated to vcache(disk cache) could not be freed up and used for programs you were running. Nor could vcache be flushed without a reboot. Without the MaxFileCache line, setting a limit on the amount of RAM Win95 allocated to It's vcache, all available RAM could be used up by the disk cache, resulting in out of memory situations or worse.

Win98 & WinMe have much better memory managment than Win95. RAM allocated to vcache can be used for programs if needed and the disk cache will be flushed as necessary. The only case where you would need to limit vcache in Win98/Me, is if you have more than 512MB RAM installed.

The bottom line is this. If you're using Win98 or WinMe, and you still believe in that "Cacheman Myth", you are hurting the performance of your system. If you are going to limit vcache in Win98/Me make sure it's 25-50% of installed RAM, preferably, 50%, or just let Windows manage it. MS MVP Ron Martell suggests 70% of installed RAM, but what does he know?  ;)

I have a 1.1GHz Celeron "yes i know they suck" A Geforce3Ti200 card 512mbs of SDRam And a 40 gig HD. I seem to get around 50 to 60 fps. And im happy with it. It plays fine for me. But i can understand you guys being upset with fraim rates in the 10s that would bite bad. ???

I recently upgraded from GF3 Ti200 to a GF4 Ti4400 and it made absolutely no difference at all.

I get framerates from 12 - 60 with a whole lot of unplayable 28 fps areas almost any time there is an enemy or anything going on. At anything less than about 48 fps, this game breaks apart and chops and lags like it was online with an 899 ping. I can barely even walk around. Single player is unplayable for me.

AMD Tbird 1.2 Gig (266)
Asus A7M266
384 Megs PC2100
SBLive 5.1
PNY Geforce 4 Ti 4400
Tried new and old drivers for everything. Tried Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 Pro, and XP Pro. I have no idea what else could be done. I already tweaked each OS for performance etc. Nothing running in the background.

I use a Ge Force II MX and my frame rates have been fine. the only level it struggled with was the Seaward Star: Main Deck when it was raining.

I just turned the fog off and my frame rates improved again.
