Hi...

I'm on a Athlon XP 1800+, 256MB DDR Crucial, 3D Prophet 4500 Kyro II and Creative Audigy Sound card.
Initially, I encountered the problems you guys were facing.. with the dipping FPS during huge firefights and massive effects like explosions.

I asked a m8 of mine (who had the same Graphics card but a worse processor) to send me his config, which he had no problems with. I compared the settings and tested how each setting would affect the framerate.

Eventually, I can conclude that the command sys_cpufeatures was causing my problems. For me, it was set at 13 by default. While for my m8 (with the older CPU) was at 5. After changing it from 13 to 5, my FPS was much higher, and sudden low FPS spikes were rare.

My guess would be that SOF2 over-rated my Athlon XP.  sys_cpufeatures probably means the number of features for my processor (whatever this actually does), and SOF2 gives Athlon XP 13 by default, which is too high.

Try changing sys_cpufeatures to 5 and tell me how much better the gameplay is. Also, if I'm wrong about the explanation of sys_cpufeatures, please correct me.

1)  Open your myconfig.cfg with Wordpad.
Scroll down until you see
seta sys_cpufeatures "13"
change it to
seta sys_cpufeatures "5"

2)  In the game, press Shift+~.
Type
sys_cpufeatures 5
Restart SOF2.

=) Here you go.

Tell me if this improves your FPS.

Here you go. In game press Shift+~ (~=button above TAB) to see the console, in console write sys_cpufeatures 5. Hope this helps.

uh hello....we are trying to find out diff commands in the config file that will help ppl fix the problem FPS with sof2.

oh and I guess finding out if the setting are the same for everyone so that you can make the change from an original state is not important.

What if you had a 5 and someone else had a 12 for the same processor.  It makes your assumption wrong..

Find out what the common numbers are then you can determine if your setting is best for everyone.

The trouble shooting skills on this board are ridiculous.. The here try this attitude stinks..  I wrote my document based on 11 different machines at varying places in the game....

What do you think that document was written based on just my machine alone.. I have posted all over the site the other machines we are testing on..

My frames hover between 35 in a fight and 125 when all's quiet. The 35 just blows it for me. I have 8x600 resolution, and ALL SETTINGS LOW, and I mean all mr. zerologic dating game boy.

Thanks to alv at least when the frames drop, its way smoother and has made a large impact in my enjoyment of this game. Every little bit helps. Thanks man.
