Because you explanation, is wery bad. I myself didn't understand it, and had some other guys look at it too, they didn't know what you meant either.
And besides you write things you don't know about either, sry to say.
Now that I know what it is, it's easy to see what you mean.

But look at the guy just above(vic) he too can't figure your explanation out.

If you had taken the time from the beginning like geronimo to explain it carefully, then it could have been usefull.

Well anyway that is just my oppinion. Don't take it bad. :/

Look at your grammar and spelling; whose explanation is "bad"? Besides, vic stated that he was using SuSe. I use Mandrake, so my fix above is for Mandrake and RedHat. And what part of "/etc/hosts" is hard to understand? Look at this thread while you're at it.

Tried to install the linux server on my Freesco router, just to try.
Error message: Kernel too old!

(I can agree to that..)

But what kernel version is needed (minimal)?

Just one question, why can't you be logged in as root to run it? I have a web server running on my computer and I can't log in as a normal user to use it....what can I do??

chmod a+x /games/sof2/sof2ded (or wherever your server directory is located)

I must have misunderstood your question. You want to run it as root. You can certainly do that, but most people will tell you to never run any programs as root for security reasons.

Why do you have to log in as root to get your web server running?  Why don't you just make it a service that auto runs at boot up?

Was wondering why my server wouldn't come up and my error was this:

SOF2MP V1.01 linux-i386 Jul  3 2002
Initialising zone memory .....
----- FS_Startup -----
Current search path:
/root/.sof2/base
/usr/local/games/sof2/base/base/MP
/usr/local/games/sof2/base/base
./sof2ded/base/MP
./sof2ded/base

Of course after posting a detailed and lengthy question I notice the path issue...
