No, I did not try saving from the console first. I'll give it a go sometime today. I tried to load a previous quicksave and a regular save.

Scarecrow, thanks very much. We have successfully loaded a save game via the console. This is good enough for me....I can play like this. Thanks again.

agree. Can`t anyone tell me what this problem is about. Is this exclusive nforce problem or what? Is it something with the engine .. q3 runs fine ... should be .. about the same engine? Please give me a header or something.

OK, I was having the same problem.. I couldn't load any save games at all. It would always crash to the desktop when I would go through the menu to load a saved game. So.. I went to the actual program directory: C:\Program Files\Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix\base\save Inside the save directory, I found save games I used from the beta and from the demos. I checked based on the dates of the saved games. Once I deleted the offending Save File (for me, it was save0000.sof2), I was able to load saved games without any trouble whatsoever. See if that helps

Update Deleting all saves in the base\save folder caused my problem to be fixed. I can now save and load normally.

doesn`t fix my problem. I have a problem loading first mission, haven`t had any chance to save yet ... man this sucks. And raven not having any workaround. Just gotto wait I guess...

If you have savegames hanging around from the warezed version, that will cause the Z_Malloc quit to desktop. If this isn't the problem, make sure you have enough space on your hard drive and you have the rights to write at that location - obvious, but you never know =)

i got the malloc error if i play the game for awhile and it starts loading a new mission (say i have loaded 3-4 before in the campaign) then it crashes with that error usually starting SOF 2 up again fixes it but it is really annoying.
