I really don't wanna be the guy who whines and rants about a game on a support board, but....I'm gonna be.

I went out and bought a new GeForce 4 for THIS GAME.

Here have been my experiences:

1. Insufferably long load times (are you kidding me, Raven?)
2. Cannot get gore mode to work at all - blood but no body parts, all settings are enabled
3. Hitting "Quick Save" causes the game to hang for about 30 seconds before the save confirmation appears (Yeah, that's real quick)
4. Trying to get back to the options board so I can do even more tweaking either causes the computer to hang for 2 - 3 minutes or crashes it completely

I remember the first SOF. It just started up without a hitch and it was a blast.

This games seems to be beautiful to look at, but it's UNPLAYABLE!!

This is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE to release something like this, with this many bugs, and I can see by the similar posts, I am not alone.

I'm sick of sitting at a computer for hours just trying to GET A GAME TO F-ING WORK! "Reinstall this," "Reinstall that."

Hey, here's a suggestion: MAKE SOMETHING THAT WORKS OUT OF THE BOX! IS THAT SUCH AN ANOMALY IN THIS DAY AND AGE?

In short, the end of this manual says, "Good luck, you're going to need it."

Yeah, no kidding.

Again, I realize I'm whining like a girl here, but you don't shell out money like this for these sorts of results.

So, my question to you, Raven, is:

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS? WHEN CAN WE EXPECT A PATCH?

I want to play this game, I want to enjoy this game, and I'm still holding out some SLIGHT hope that you will come through for the people who have bought this lemon.

Yeah, I'm having a lot of problems too with crashing and such, changing the settings in the game doesn't seem to do anything and I've got all the latest drivers and everything. The one thing I have figured out about is about the load times: I suspect you have the texture detail set to "very high," change it to "high" instead and that should speed load times up dramatically. Plus, I really don't notice any difference at all between the high and very high settings in terms of quality.

Anyhow, I have faith that Raven will come out with a patch pretty quickly, I suspect that Activision's quality control/assessment department dropped the ball here. They were probably too busy devoting all their resources to e3, what with the doom3 announcement and all. Oh well, I'll be patient for the time being.

Psycho: I would seriously consider it, but I bought it from EB, and their policy now is that you can only return an opened game to exchange it for another copy. Oh well, buyer beware...

Nothing like that wrong with my copy. Load times are a tad long, but I am not a fan of the quake 3 engine when it comes to loading times and resolution switches and things. It's pretty sloppy.

In this day and age of 3 different videocard chipsets, 5 different sound card chips, 2 major competing processors, several dozen motherboard manufacturers, and millions of combinations of them all, yes it is pretty much an anomaly that every game is going to work right out of the box for you.

You guys should go to www.activision.com and look in the support section.  With the hardware you guys say you have you should not be seeing these kinds of issues.  We are able to run this game on an Athlon 750 (slot A) and a Geforce2 GTS with 256 MB of rm and it looks and runs really well.

at what resolution?
640x480 and 800x600 are not the correct answer.

Yeah Im on a P3 733 with a GF2 and a 512 RAM and it runs great in 1024x768 with all the important details turned up high. High model detail, excessive gore and excessive decals, regular lighting and blob shadows. I get about 30fps outdoors and it drops down to 20-25 during major firefights. Frame rate much higher indoors.

No pauses when I save it or access the menu. Like I said, just the load times are gross. But thats a Q3 engine thing.

You more than likely have a hardware incompatibility.

Even at 640x480 and lowest detail the area I'm currently in of the tanker level is absolutely unplayable (4fps) and that is with a GeForce 3 Ti500 and double the the processing power and RAM of the rig you are describing igarcia...somethin' ain't right here...

We ran this at 1024x768 and got an average of 30 -/+ FPS.
