I did the coolbits thing and it only lets me set up to 220 and if I go past 430 on ram then I can see pixels starting to brighten in games such as Nascar 2002. Do you do any extra cooling for this. I have a very large tower with normal cooling fans so not to worried. My frames are not to bad now that I did tweak such as flares to off and turned Vert Sync off. It does drop to 25-35 in firefights but yet to go to these other levels yet that others are having problems with.
Pent 4 2.0a 512 DDR Ram gf3ti200 @ 220/430 overclock Nvidia 28.32 det drivers. win xp home is Pro Faster?? SB Live Value
No probs with multi player.
These games are just starting to tax are video cards maybe not sure. Need to get on Wolf and see what those FPS were. Just wait till Doom 3 we are all fried without new cards. I also have a Geforce2 MX thinking of putting both my cards on Ebay and shooting for the 4. We have a very expesive hobby as PC gamers. Then again I just cant give up my PC for a Playstation or Xbox. Yet. |
i forgot to mention that my card was a gainward golden sample which by default is 200/450 or something . but the oc'ing is only related to the quality of the components. my guess is your card has slower ram and not as good a gpu etc etc.some people can go as high as 260/550 which is insane. it does take a bit of extra cooling to keep it stable. using stock heatsink/fan i just mounted a very noisy 138cfm 120mm fan to cool my whole system. my system sounds like a jumbo jet on crack due to the other 10 or so fans in there. btw my card has 4ns ram (128meg, which is why i used very high tex quality) so its rated at 500mhz. just so you know, if your system can handle columbia, wait till you see the ship level. saints preserve us. overdraw like you wouldn't believe. they laugh at the kyro now... i turned off lens flares as even the occluded seemed to suck graphically. but turning off high quality textures is quite noticable which i thought it might not be. definetely turn off flares = big speed increase. win xp pro might be a very small tad faster but generally its just way better than home. one last thing, in almost every game i've played turning on eax or directsound 3d or any 3d sound will really tax your cpu even though your sound card should be doing 99.9% of the work. audigy is no better it seems or at least the drivers are bad.use direct sound 2d. hope this post is long enough to keep you sane during your plight over performance issues. happy reading and my next post should be able to rival stephen king's next novel. j/k |

I know I did not hear him say to play the game in 640x480 or even 800 x 600. Cough cough gag.....! You say this game was made for the future?? Why not make it for today? Maybe we will build a car that can run real fast but until we develop the new pistons it wont run over 30... But we wont tell them until they already bought it...hehehe Sarcastic I know but come on 640 x 480? Not why I paid the bucks I did for this rig. Dont want to sound to harsh but, please dont insult our intelligence. This reminds me of the days I had to make boot disks and edit config.sys and autoexec.bat files to make a flight sim run. Ahhhhh Flash Back!! Don't put the cart before the horse! Sound familiar. Make software we can run today. If not for MP this would be back to "Game Spot" at the mall where they will take it back if ya dont like it in 30 days. |

I experienced this also, and while my computer may not be as beefy as some of the others posted, considering I get quite playable framerates in Jedi Outcast with high quality settings and 2x anti-aliasing, something is wrong. My brother has no problems, however, and he has a Raedon 8500. Now, I tracked down all the threads about this and one person gave a suggestion that worked for me.
Seeing as all of the people complaining about poor FPS are geforce users, this will probably work for anyone.
1. Right-click the desktop and select properties. 2. Go to the settings tab and click Advanced. 3. Go to the Geforce 2/3/4 tab and click Additional Properties. 4. Go to the Direct 3D tab and change the Mipmap Detail level to Blend(Default is Best Quality).
I did not notice a drop in texture quality, but load times decreased dramatically, and now I can run with high settings at a very playable frame rate.
I hope this helps. |

| Quote (Fluke @ May 24 2002, 2:45) | | Quote | - and how can one check this? is there software or something, i don't have anything in slot1 but what if power is shared with a different slot. Out of all your things written here, this is the one that really interested me in wanting to know more.
much appreciate some feedback on this... Thanks!

No real way to check, unless your really good at following traceing on motherboards, and/or have access to the design schematic for the motherboard, it is a common thing to do on cheaper motherboards to save money and such, you can usually overcome this problem by useing a higher watt power supply, anymore with modern motherboards I recommend nothing less then 320watt. Now I have seen this on some of the "bargain" boards from ASUS, and Abit, there was a huge issue back a few years ago when the Voodoo3 first came out, the card was power hungry, and people who shared AGP & PCI1 would run into this issue, now with your higher quality motherboards, usually each motherboard is wired like so.
AGP +1.5-1.5 PCI1, PCI3 PCI2, PCI4 PCI5, PCI6/ISA1
Right, so...on cheaper boards you usuall have AGP+PCI1 w/voltage bridge resistor PCI2, PCI3 ect. The big thing is, with your GF2, 3,4, ect they use only 1.5v, with a higher amperage...less amps mean more problems with desktop crashes and such since the cards are gettin' less power. Ahh that should make some sense. |
