Hey all, been having a break from mapping for a few months, and seem to have lost my way a little,

I am building a map with a canal flowing through the town centre, i want the bottom of the canal to be a terrain patch however so i can make an uneven silty/muddy bottom, as there is nothing in the map lower than the canal bottom and the canal has a significant curve, would it be ok to make a large terrain patch that stretches through the whole base of the map (which will only be visible at the base of the canal, but will be passing through some brushes) or should i adapt the patch to fit solely around the shape of the canal?

I ask because what i can remember of manipulating the vertices, it created errors in the map..

Im sure i could have explained that alot simpler

any help appreciated

Passing your terrain patch through brushs is not recommended. But i think nearly every mapper has to do it at one point.

Like what happens when you make a pile of rubble ontop of a terrain hill, theres no way ya gonna move the verts to fit perfect around the peices of rubble, lol

It should'nt cause any problems, just gives some lighting errors in the compile.
