Hello All.
I want to make a transparent spray for css. I have photoshop cs to make one with but all the tutorials make reference to vtex to convert my image file.

All the links to this file seem to be dead :) does anyone have a working download link for this programme? Is it freeware?

Any goo link to a tutorial on how to make a transparent css spray with photoshop cs would be appreciated :)

many thanks...rob

The reason you can't find it for download is because it actually comes with the SDK installation of the game. C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username\sourcesdk\bin\vtex.exe

Create a desktop shortcut to this file for easy use. You can drag and drop files into it for conversion.

If you don't need to adjust any settings of the texture, then just drag your tga file over the shortcut and drop it to convert.

Your options for conversion can be typed into a plain text file named the same name as your image file (except with .txt instead of .tga). Save it next to your tga file. value of 1 = on and 0 = off....

nolod: no level of detail.
nomip: don't create mip levels
clamps or clampt: no tiling of the image
skybox: hide the seam of your images
startframe and endframe: two numbers for animated textures
nocompress: don't compress the image
nonice: don't use this compression filter on smaller mip levels

Generally, you wouldn't use any of these settings.
