So i was messing with the skybox values and i noticed something very interesting. When I change the sundirection and run a compile all that happens is the shadows change places and the map gets brighter or darker in respect to where the sundirection is now. The thing is that the actually sun is never visable and it still looks as if the sun is setting on this skybox. Maybe the glare effect would work if I could actually see the sun. I know in matmata when you look toward the sun you can actually see that damn orange/red ball in the sky. Am I possibly on to something. Please let me know.

When saving the file in notepad, where it says Save As Type, bring down the drop down menu and choose *All Files*. Then you should be able to save it as a .sun or w/e.

Also, if that doesnt work you can jus right click it and rename it and take out the .txt that way.

you can find out by trying it.

to get a nice sundirection do this:

Make an entity at the 0,0,0 coordinates (use a global intermission or something.
Rotate it so the arrow is pointing towards where you want your sun to be.
Press "E"
write down the angles of the entity
Enter those angles in the "sundirection" part of the worldspawn settings.
Remove the entity
Save
Compile
Check.

How to show all file extensions using windows:

1. open up the windows explorer (eg. "My Computer")
2. select "Tools"->"Folder Options" from the menu (if you have Windows 95 its "View"->"Options").
3. Click on the "View" tab an uncheck "Hide MS-DOS file extensions for known file types"
4. click "OK"
