Hello again,
I've just received "Quake 4 Mods for Dummies" - it's pretty good, congratulations - I tried to create a custom interface, the only problem is: I think my guieditor doesn't work properly; I'm able to launch it, the navigator, properties and the transformer are displayed, but when I choose "FIle\New", the workingspace is missing, which means that I can't really see what I'm doing...

So, when you open the gui editor and select File > New you don't see a black workarea as in Figure 16-11 (pg 295)?

exactly, I don't see a workingarea - even if I load a gui that allready exists, I don't see anything...

I searched all over for someone reporting the same error and I can't come up with a similar case.

Make sure that you have upgraded your version with the latest patch.

its probably offscreen somewhere, try running your editor from this shortcut:
quake4.exe +set r_fullscreen 0 +editguis +set r_brightness 1 +set r_multisamples 0 +com_allowConsole 1

if that doesnt bring it back you could try increasing your display resolution until you see it.

I've got a question concerning "Quake 4 Mods for dummies"

I'm not 100 % sure but I think there's a typo in that scriptline on page 306, step 5
It reads:

set "cmd" "activate" :

I used that line and it didn't work, I tried again but it still didn't work, so I tried:

set "cmd" "activate" ; - it worked

I just wanted to know if it's really a typo or if it was my mistake (ten times)...

When I look at that script, I see what you mean. But when I look closer, it looks like a bad printing job. It looks like a semi-colon with the comma cut off. [ohwell]

Nahhh it's a conspiracy and they listed it wrong on purpose [lol] you always terminate a line of code with a semicolon -- except for when you dont. It follows the same formatting rules as for C++.
