GamePolitics has confirmed that lawyers representing Take-Two Interactive, publisher of Bully, are seeking to have Jack Thompson declared in contempt of court.

Although we haven’t yet seen the motion, the request would appear to relate to Thompson’s angry comments in the wake of Miami District Court Judge Ronald Friedman’s refusal to block sales of Bully.

In a worst-case scenario for Thompson, the outspoken attorney could be jailed by Judge Friedman if he were ruled in contempt.

However, a knowledgeable legal source has told GamePolitics that options such as fines, judicial admonishment or censure are more likely.

It appears that controversial attorney Jack Thompson may be compelled to appear before a Florida judge as early as this afternoon to explain why he should not be held in contempt of court.

As much as it makes me smile, I don't expect anything to come of it. I would see it more as a warning shot to keep him in line ;)

... but nice to see him being on the receiving end for once.

If he has to appear in court to defend himself, then he just might end up going to jail. I see two likely scenarios:

1. He tells the court to go to hell and doesn't show up.

2. He goes to court and tells them to go to hell after an hour of whining.

Either way, I see possible jail time.

I hope we can get his Jail adress i want to send him a nice postcard saying "you got Owned!!" with a nice bloody headshot image

thats the problem with the legal system...maybe someone should make a smarter AI mod instead of the current dumbass model they are using for lawyers

From on-the-scene reports it appears that a wild scene took place in the Miami courtroom of Judge Ronald Friedman this afternoon.

A reliable source has told GamePolitics that Judge Friedman did not hear Take-Two’s contempt motion. Instead, Friedman recused himself, explaining that he was filing a complaint against Thompson with the Florida Bar.
