I compiled my map , and i cannot test it. The console command "map mymap" is not working , and i cannot find the compiled . bsp file in the Cod2 folder. I dropped the ctf spawn entities , and a spectator entity. So i dont know why i cannot test my map , and where is the .bsp file after compiling. [ohwell]

The .d3dbsp file should be in your /maps/mp folder if you named your map mp_..... else it is in the /maps folder..

however.. there also is the possibility your map didn't compile.. in which case it's no where.

Post your compile log if the .d3dbsp file isn;t in either of those folders.



How to get your compile log:

when your .bat runs...it opens a command window.


In your command window, before pressing any key to close the window,
rightlclick and select "Select All". The text will then turn white. Press "Enter".
You've now got it copied to your clipboard and can paste it anywhere you want.

or:

Before pressing a key the first time click the icon in the upper left of the cmd window
click edit --> select all and press enter. This has copied the log to the clipboard
for you to paste to a text file or preferably to a forum reply for help you do this
for all three times copy paste...copy paste...copy paste

Thanx , i need first the compiler bat file. And then i copy the log file. I think too , that my map did not compiled.

Here are the file handles messages during the compiling:

1.
File Handles:
----------------------
81963 files in iwd files
Loading map file E:\Call of Duty 2\main\maps\mymap_1.map
Backwards tree volume.
This usually means there are no structural brushes.

2.
File Handles:
----------------------

I have made a big terrain patch , and i would like to test the real -in game- dimensions of this. The compiler cannot load the d3bsp , because it does not exists. What does it means practically : "Backwards tree volume.
This usually means there are no structural brushes."

a map with just one terrain patch can't be compiled.

you need to have a skybox around it.

It is ok. My map with a skybox compiled.[rocking] I copied the d3dbsp in the \Call of Duty 2\main\maps\mp folder , but i dont found as a playable map in the multiplayer/ start server menu. [confused]

You wont see your map name in the list until you create an arena file for it.

To run from the .bsp pull down the console and type map then leave a space and type the name of your map.

2 things:

1) name your map mp_.... because else it won't be put in the maps/mp folder automatically.

2) The not being in the list...
That's because compiling and making it show up in the map list are two different things.

you can run your map by pulling down the console (~ key) and typing in /map yourmapname

I tried , to test my map in console , but it doesnot work. "Couldnot load mymap.d3dbsp". [ohwell]
( How much easier the doom3 editing )
