I'm sorry if I sound dumb and repeadative but I am haveing trouble with .def files.

I just wanna be able to see my level(s) at start up under load mods press the button and load my game.

How do I got about this.
I am really thinking of buying a book at this point but

I've tried a tutorial and it showed my mod which was a folder and it re-write pistol .def then I created simple room but it did not load it. I had to enter map room to see it. so I was close but no room.

to reiterate though this is redundant

all I want to do is load a single player .map that I wrote see it as a mod in the list press it and then see my level.

please help
and thanks for all the other help as well

I can't remember off hand how to make the single player map available for play when you press... PLAY.

As for the separate mod creation:

- create a new folder in your base folder named whatever you want for your mod. Don't use any spaces or other funky characters, just make it simple.

- in the folder, create a new text document titled "description.txt"

- edit this text document and type in the name of your mod on the first line. Only what's on the first line will show up in list of mods.

(hopefully you have winzip for the next step)

- in that folder where description.txt is located, right click and select New>Winzip File

- rename this empty zip file: empty.pk4
this file must be there for the mod to show up.

- place your custom files in this folder as your new base folder.

That's it. You just created a mod that can be loaded from the game.
Anything here will load in place of the existing game content. If a game file isn't here, the game will just load the default file.
