After reading all the posts, there's 2 things I want to say
1- A beta version is a pre-release of a final product to test if they are bugs, glitches, textures problems, etc... Right now what is offer its simply the beginning of what "maybe" it will look like.
2- Using a free engine to make a game its ok, but forcing people to pay for a "beta look alike"...hummmm I have a big problem with that.
Call of Duty community is a free environment. Maps, scripts, mods, simple conversion, total conversion, etc.... Everything is free. Now its easy to understand why the community is receiving badly what you offer. Even new mappers who make their very first map have a better quality of that you are offering to paid members only.
I really think you screwed up your project by making your announcement many months to soon.
My 2 cents

Were not forcing people to pay, were simply offering it to the perfered and + members because A) we dont want it to be downloaded and tested by 3 million people and B) It will get MO more clients. Foyleman and me have made an agreement on this so im not the one distributing this beta, this website is. |

"what are you getting out of this?"
i mean yes i am sure people are being happy gettingmoney from you.... lol but you are loosing money and wasting time...
please post a screenshot of another map that some one else has made !
or is this the only map you have made and are you the only person making the game ? ![[sleeping]](images/BBCode/smilies/sleeping.gif) |

But what you need to understand Tim451, is that this site needs funds to keep alive. When people subscribe, they help keep the site alive. If I remember correctly, foyleman told me that pretty often the money to keep it up still ends up coming out of somebody's poket.
The custom avatars are available on other forums, yet what other mapping/modding site has 46,000+ members registered. Also, what other site do you know that offers many tutorials for a wide range of games.
You may feel that there are not enough benifits as a user, but it helps the site out so much. Though personally, I am very happy with the extra features I get.
