HI all,
I heard that there where or still are liberation mod/maps for cod/coduo.. I play the game from the beginning and have never came across such gameplay.. Searched over the internet for ot, but no.. only vage things... so maybe it never excisted or it's to long ago. But i loved the Liberation mode in Mohaa.. i want to know, does it excist in COD/COD:UO? And do people think that that is possible to be made for COD:UO?

For those who don't know what the Liberation mode means...
In Liberation mode, there are 2 prisons... the goal is to kill the opposit side untill they are all in prison. If u die, u end up in the prison with no weapons. But each prison has a switch to open it again.. So if u are the last one standing.. and u manage to get to the prisonswitch and free ur m8.. they can help u again.. and visa versa for the oposit side

Maybe i need to be more specific..

question 1.
If i get shot down. Is it possible then to define respawn to a defined location other then the normal spawnpoints? so only if u die u will be spawned there.

2. is it possible to define it by team? so axis respawns at axis_spawn_jail and allies respawn in allies_spawn_jail?

3. is it possible to define an area (by use of trigger brush or something like that) that counts the amount of players in it and compares it whit the player side.. so if all allies are in allies_area_jail, axis will win.. and the other way around.

i know it needs some scripting if it is possible and want to know if it can be scripted at map sided(script) or on server sided(MOD)

I think i remember testing this with a mate on breakthrough

if ya get shot u get thrown in jail and theres a switch outside that allies can press to open the jail and free the players?

That would be an awesome gametype for cod 2

Yeah I think it could be possible, but only with some crafty scripting because Cod/Uo have lost a lot of usefull commands that Moh/aa/sh/bt had.

I wrote a liberation game mode for SH a long time ago, it played just like Breakthrough did.

The trick was to start SH in a round based game type, dm or tdm style wont work, because you cant control respawning of players all the time. If the game is round based where all players spawn at the same time at the start of a round then you can disable the outside spawns after roundstart and enable the jail spawn points, so when you die you respawned in a jail.

But!!! Cod & Uo dont support enable/disable of spawn points.

If it's possible to change the origins of spawn points in Cod/Uo then it would be a simple matter of moving the outisde spawn points into the cells after round start, then keep a count of how many players are inside/outside the jail cells.

You could have a mod where the gametype starts and it waits 30 seconds for every1 to get in the map.

Then what you do is have trigger spawns, once the 1st trigger is hit it deletes the base spawn points and spawns spawn ponts into the jail.

If u cant spawn spawn points, then maybe u can move them by triggers over to the jail??

its been a long time since this post was started, if i would have seen it i would have posted before.. seeing a few guys were interested in the gametype, i thought id post this info up..

btw your guys ideas were great however i acomplished this only by involving mappers and custom maps.. only way to really get it right in my opinion.. to hard to try to spawn all the liberation entities into a map, they must be installed into the mapfile, thanks god for http redirect and custom maps..

hoping to add more maps to gametype soon, so far we have 9 maps in rotation... 4 of them made by Ramza (excellent maps )

oh im really sorry this mod is for COD2 not COD.. i didnt realise till after i posted that this thread was in COD General Gaming.. sorry if anyone tryed to connect to any of the COD2 servers in above post
