Hi ppl...
Yet another problem on my map...xDDD...they just keep coming...
This time is about some fire and some fences i put on my map...i put some trigger hurt around those places in order to hurt the player when he traverses them...now..the problem is that when testing it lately...it does...nothing!! It doesn't hurt at all...
No error, i opened the editor and the trigger is there..so i make no idea what's wrong..

Any clues?

Im assuming you did the following.

Draw a brush with the 'trigger' texture

Right click and select trigger - hurt.

Press 'N' depending on what you want the damage to be default is 5 i think (key: dmg value: 100)

are you loading the default scripts in your gsc still? (_load)

are you testing this vanilla or is a mod running interference?

First answering to rasta...

I did exactly that...plus i changed the damage values for the fire (more) and to the fence (less)...they did work fine before just not know...i didn't change anything since they started to work ok...

Now to Stryder...

Yes, i am still loading the _load on my gsc, but i am also running this under xtreme+ mod...

Nope that's not possible...i've been testing it with one of the xtreme+ developers, Marc aka Wildcard, and he told me it the problem was not from the mod...
My previous problem with the ents, that one was related to the mod...but not this one...

It would seem to me it still is related to the amount of ents in your map,. Remember the "too many scene entities (more than 2046)" i mentioned, if you placed the trigger_hurt in those areas quess what will happen. I don't understand why you need those minefields like that in the first place, if you had stuck to the normal way it would have saved you so much grief.

Well...but how can it be possible? i mean, with the other problem the map didn't even started!! That same map that didn't started was used with a fix for mod xtreme+ and worked fine...except for this!! So now the map loads and playes...without changing any number of ents...because as i told you they are far from that number...
Also i already tried to portal it but i am not able too...it's an open map...no buildings whatsoever...how am i supposed to do that? no windows or doors to shut!!

Not every problem will cause your map to not start

You do not need building to portal any structual brush that blocks vis can be used. A very easy and basic portal job can be done on the main part of your map ( outside area ) just by puting a portal from each corner of the large square structure to the outer wall and a portal on top to seal it all.

Well i did something like that...

I did 4 cells (with portals), one in each corner of the map...just like in the picture below...



The only problem is that when i went to compiling, during process it show this messages....for example...

- portal at xxx brush is not at BSP split, is floating, or ....

- brush has the same cell on both sides...

I think this renders the portals useless...so more that after compiling i did test the map...it works but i am not shure it solved the problem...
