I have been reading the ambient sound tuts under cod and cod2 as well, and Im a little confused as to what should be where. lets say I am using a mp3 called rock. should I rename it to amb_rock.mp3 and put it in a folder main>>sounds>>ambient?? Should my .csv file be under main>>soundaliases?? and should it look like this???

name,sequence,file,vol_min,vol_max,vol_mod,pitch_min,pitch_max,dist_min,dist_max,channel,type,probability,loop,masterslave,loadspec,subtitle,compression,secondaryaliasname,volumefalloffcurve,startdelay,speakermap,reverb,lfe percentage

#Ambiance
ambient_mp_3towers,,ambient/amb_rock.mp3,0.63,,,,,,,local,streamed,,looping,,mp_mapname

then should my gsm look like this??????

main()
{
maps\mp\_load::main();

level thread weaponrespawner("weapons", 5);

ambientPlay("amb_rock");

Corrections in red, the rest is good.

Put amb_rock.mp3 in main>>sound>>ambient

amb_rock,,ambient/amb_rock.mp3,0.63,,,,,,,local,streamed,,looping,,mp_mapname

TY veef for the help, unfortunatly I still can not get the sound to work. I verified that the song is 128 bit, 2 channel, 44 khz. I moved all the files to the right folders. But when I run the map from the compiler, the map loads fine but no sound. Any suggestions???

your amb_rock.mp3 file should be in /sound/ambient not sounds/ambient.

All I can think of is placing the ambient line right after your load::main() line.

TY caretaker for the replys, I tried moving that line and it still did not help. will it load the ambient sounds using the compiler? does it need to be zipped into an .iwd file to work? these are probably dumb questions for alot of you, but this is my first attempted map. thanks for the help.

No... ambientsounds have nothing to do with the compiler.

One last thing.. Is the .csv file a proper .csv file or a .csv.txt file?
