Was just thinking about how much I miss the UO satchels... They were freaking fun... Now it got out of hand sometimes on small maps, but for the most part, I think it added a nice element to the game...

Anyway, it sounds like someone could mod a weapon into a satchel charge... Does the following sound possible:

1) add a custom sound by recording the uo satchel explosion.
2) add a custom texture by screenshotting the uo satchel
3) create a custom model
4) script it as a grenade that just does more damage and plays the custom satchel sounds

voila, COD2 satchel.. Mush easier said than done, but it would be freaking sweet.

so are you saying replace the grenades with a satchel charge? if so, would you want the satchel skin or the skin used to replace the satchel in some maps and used and called a C4?

Sounds do-able, the only hard spot would be the modeling... but I'll see what I can do

If I had it my way it would be the satchel charge added to COD2... I wouldn't want to replace the grenade... The smoke grenade could go. I was thinking of it as a weapon you could pick up, not one that you would be given upon spawning (as I said, it was too crazy in UO when everyone had them).

I would hide one in a very hard to reach, high-risk spot in the map.. If you get to it, you deserve it. Then you could nail people with it...

I think what I want would be significant modding.

Remember how it performed in UO? Well, that's not true because we had a mod on ours.. It was super powerful, like throwing 5 nades spread out... It was hard to throw.. Usually you could get it to the top of a medium wall, but if you missed, you were screwed. It was also cookable (you could pull the pin and count down so people couldn't just run away, but if you time it wrong, you're gone.

oh yeah I remeber it allright, and miss it dearly.....this would be more of a large scripting project...but I think I could do the modeling/skinning if someone wanted to write the scripts...

it would not be hard at all... just extract the model from coduo and export it to cod2. open the sound file from cod uo and attach it to cod2. the textures also would not be hard. but i do modeling not scripting s would have no idea how to do the 'making a gernade' part. good luck

I think StrYdeR would know how to do it....I think....

and on a side note, I didnt think that the models from UO worked with CoD2. Ive tried to import custom weapons that people have made, but no luck...maybe I was doing something wrong...

I didn't think you could use UO stuff either. Can anyone confirm or deny?

well you could just increase the size of the explosion radius of the grenade, give it a cutom sound and change the model to the tnt model. of course that means no grenades but thats the easiest way i can think of. i dont think you can take stuff from uo and put it cod2, especially models because of their textures, i could be wrong though.
