we need a shout box. if i see someone i know over in the members online box i wanna say hi or somthin to em but not exactly have to PM them. or will a shoutbox not work because people who dont know the purpose of a forum post there problems there? could put in red lettering "not for posting problems, please ask/complain in forums" lol.

the problem with the shout box is two things:

- it can't be monitored and on sites with LOTS of members, bad things can get posted.

- it's another things that has to load on the side of the page somewhere.

This is something I have thought of as well, but I didn't want to detract from what we already had.

well if the problem is there is know where to put it, below the anti cheat would be great. (the website is lopsided, its tipping my moniter...wait nvm, stupid piece of cardboard) but for the bad post things then yea i can see where that falls in at. possibly restrict it to like you need a certian amout of approved posts to qualify for it? but then people might just play this as a game where your the boss and the forums are all the monkey enemies protecting you and the forums get spammed.

i guess this is what happens when there are a lot of immature people in the world. but we dont need the shout box too complicated to the point where there are like 40 ppl that have access to use it lol.

im sure i will have tons more ideas in the future....WE NEED A OFFICAL MODSONLINE MACHINIMA (or whatever) VIDEO!!! that would be awsome!

i dont think a shoutbox is the answer...i have seen alot of them on other sites - and really...with our ts monitoring...member online monitoring...irc channel...i think we are covered - if someone wants to chat - they will on one of those mediums

maybe a shoutbox as a new module? and maybe limiting the amount of posts per hour? also of course disabling html. "Please Post in within the next hour, we already had enough posts!" What i mean as a new module is that in a different page viewed by modsonline users.
Make a new usergroup that only allows them to access it. Make people moderators of the shoutbox as well?

that seperate page thing sounds cool. moderators that are on all the time too. but with the MO clan going on, isnt the TS reserved for the members? (just might think it is.)

yup i wouldn't mind trying to rip the phpnuke shoutbox module to plain php code :)

while certain channels should require a login - there should be a shared channel for modsonline to allow for open communication
