I think you can launch it right from the compiler but make sure you have a .gsc first. Or you can go into CoD2 pull down the console (to do that press key to the left of 1) and type in "/map mymapname" do that with out quotes.

Here is a tutorial for the gsc file: http://www.modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-324.html In order to make your map appear on the server map list, you need also an arena file. There is a tutorial for it as well.
